Jasmine Crockett’s Campaign Spending Revealed

Jasmine Crockett’s Campaign Spending Revealed

New campaign finance records show Crockett spent over $5 million in her Senate primary loss to James Talarico, who outpaced her in advertising by millions.

The numbers behind a losing campaign

Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett lost her Senate primary bid last week, and the campaign finance records that followed paint a detailed picture of where the money went. Between December 2025 and February 2026, her campaign brought in $8,577,757.47 in total receipts, with $3,682,885.41 coming from individual contributions. On the spending side, the campaign logged $5,092,872.38 in expenses and ended the race with $3,484,885.09 still in the bank.

The losing effort came against James Talarico, whose campaign operated on an entirely different financial scale. Talarico pulled in over $20,683,458.89 in receipts and spent $15,848,257.94 over the same period, including $1 million directed specifically toward digital fundraising.

Where Crockett’s money went

The breakdown of Crockett’s spending reveals a campaign that invested heavily in voter outreach through text messaging. More than $200,000 went to text message services aimed at reaching potential voters. The campaign also directed over $275,000 to a company called True Blue Digital for advertising, while consultants received upward of $40,000.

Other line items included $20,000 for website services, $10,000 on printing, $6,000 on media production, and $1,800 on security services. A catering charge of $1,200 appeared in the records alongside a $528 tab at Winsome Prime, a well-regarded Texas restaurant.

Talarico’s advertising advantage

The spending gap between the two candidates was most visible in advertising. While Crockett allocated a significant portion of her budget to text outreach and digital services, Talarico leaned hard into advertising investment, an area where he outpaced her considerably. His $1 million digital fundraising spend alone exceeded what Crockett put toward several of her largest expense categories combined.

The disparity in receipts tells a similar story. Talarico raised more than twice what Crockett brought in, giving his campaign the flexibility to dominate paid media channels in the weeks leading up to the primary.

Crockett’s profile heading into the race

Before the Senate run, Crockett had built a national profile as a sharp-tongued Democratic voice in the House. She drew attention for pointed exchanges with Republican colleagues and became a recognizable figure in political media circles beyond Texas. Her campaign against Talarico was seen as a test of whether that visibility could translate into primary votes against a well-funded opponent.

It could not. Despite the fundraising haul and the name recognition, Crockett’s campaign was outspent where it mattered most, and Talarico’s financial advantage proved difficult to overcome.

The campaign finance disclosures offer a window into how money moved through a high-profile Texas primary, and the numbers suggest that Crockett’s operation, though far from broke, was simply running a different kind of race than the one that won.
