Seth Rogen reveals “no plans” on working with James Franco

James Franco has largely remained away from the mainstream Hollywood spotlight since his 2018 allegations. He faced multiple sexual misconduct allegations in that year which also affected his longtime friendship with Seth Rogen.

Franco and Rogen were one of Hollywood’s most prominent duos for over 20 years. After their initial meeting on the TV show Freaks and Geeks in 1999, they collaborated on major comedies like Pineapple Express, This Is the End, The Interview and The Disaster Artist.

In a June 2026 interview with Variety, Rogen said that he has “no plans” to work with Franco again in the future. He told the outlet:

“Nothing has changed since the last time I talked about all this, and I haven’t worked with him in a really long time and I have no plans to.”

Reportedly, five women accused James Franco of inappropriate behavior in 2018, leading to a 2019 lawsuit. It was filed by his former students from his former New York acting school, Studio 4. In 2021, Franco and his production company agreed to pay $2.235 million to settle the lawsuit.

James Franco’s recent TikTok video has received polarized reactions from his fans, with some expressing amusement and others being concerned due to the absurdity of the video.

Franco, who was one of Hollywood’s most in-demand leading men throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, wore a blue T-shirt with the name “Bruce Robinson” written on it. Although he did not elaborate on the details as what is the reason behind making the video besides mentioning that “there’s some crazy stuff going on.”

Some viewed it with scepticism; some welcomed his new approach while others believed it was a publicity stunt. James Franco will be starring in an upcoming film, Love Meets In The Sunshine. It has been directed by Christian Guiton.

A user wrote:

“He should come back anyway. Keep creating because your art is one thing people can’t ever take away from you even when the cultural climate is politically difficult.”

Another user chimed in:

“I think it’s an acting bit. Sad because he doesn’t have to do weird stuff like that to get attention. He could literally just be normal and get ten times more views.”

A third said:

“He’s doing a movie promo. It has nothing to do with the allegations against him. Apparently it’s called ‘The Sunshine Movie’ according to the comment section on Tiktok.”

James Franco gained massive recognition after starring as Harry Obourne in the Spider-Man trilogy. Additionally, he featured in commercial hits like Pineapple Express and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He delivered acclaimed performances in dramas like 127 Hours, which earned him an Academy Award nomination, and The Disaster Artist.
