At the GCAC, Patty spoke with Lawrence and informed him that the next phase of her plan was in motion. By the end of the night, she planned to get whatever she wanted, and Diane would continue being held at that location.

Kyle refused to believe anything about his mother that came from the twisted mouth of Patty Williams. Jack understood why his son would be so distraught, and he needed him to listen to what Patty had to say to avoid Diane slipping further into danger.

Patty provided Jack with proof that Diane was alive and well, so they needed to take this seriously. There was no way to shrug this off, despite the uncertainty of dealing with Patty. To find Diane and neutralize Patty, Jack needed to fully immerse himself in her game and play along.

Kyle wanted to rip Patty to shreds, but Jack wanted to handle this with more caution. Going to law enforcement was also out of the question, or else Patty would cease all cooperation. She had Jack and his family right where she wanted them, so the only way to figure this out was to give in to her demands, or at least make it appear that way.

Spending quality time with Patty may have been the most revolting option, but Jack’s hands were tied. This was the only conceivable way to bring Diane home. Patty was far too dangerous not to take at face value. Underestimating her could have deadly consequences for Diane.

Jack assured Kyle to follow his lead and that more instructions would follow later. He called Patty, which she had been expecting. He wanted to discuss their future, and the only way to do that was to invite her over to the Abbott mansion.

Jack’s Public Commitment

Patty arrived rather quickly, but she made it clear right away that she wouldn’t play ball if this was only temporary. She wouldn’t be played as a means to get Diane back after her “treatment.” Patty asked Jack to finally commit to her, and unfortunately for him, he was forced to agree. It was the only way to save Diane.

It had to be real, though. She needed Jack to take the time he needed to fully embrace the relationship. She didn’t think anything would be better than getting to know Jack on an intimate level again. Patty wanted to celebrate their news immediately, and she wanted to do it as publicly as possible.

Patty wasn’t a fool, and she knew that saving Diane was his primary objective, but she was equally convinced that she could sway Jack the more time they spent together. Jack put on a performance and broke the news to Kyle, who immediately accused Patty of being involved in Diane’s disappearance.

Jack did what he felt he needed to do and openly chose Patty in front of Kyle. This was the only way to fully convince Patty that he was truly invested. They left for drinks and dinner at Society, and right away Abby spotted them.

Abby asked for a moment to speak alone with her uncle because seeing him at dinner with Patty was jarring, to say the least. He explained the bare minimum to her, and she agreed to trust his instincts and find a way to bring Diane home to the family.

Patty Wants the Abbott Mansion

The next morning, Jack called the entire family over for a meeting, and it wasn’t going to be anything they wanted to hear. He told Billy, Abby, and Traci that he was manipulating Patty into thinking he was genuinely interested in her. It was the only way to locate Diane from the mysterious treatment center. Detective Burrow was already looking into it, but he couldn’t make any major moves without tipping Patty off.

Jack explained that he was essentially being extorted into dating Patty in order to get crumbs of information about Diane. He wondered if the plan from the very beginning was to isolate Diane and remove her entirely. However, none of that mattered now because he had no choice but to cave to Patty’s demands.

The biggest demand of all was that Patty wanted to move into the Abbott mansion. Not only was this a major ask for Traci and Kyle, but it was only part of what she wanted. She didn’t just want to make the Abbott mansion her new home. She wanted Kyle and Traci to vacate the property.

Diane’s Captivity Continues

Diane was furious about being held against her will, and she refused to believe that she had suffered a mental breakdown. She was told that Jack was the one funding her “captivity,” but she didn’t find that plausible. Nothing about it made any sense.

The doctor refused to let Diane call Jack, which didn’t come as a shock to her. She knew she hadn’t had a breakdown of any kind, but he continued to gaslight her. Diane knew that, but she didn’t have any memory of getting there to begin with, which made it easier for him to manipulate her.

Diane agreed to eat the food provided for her, even if the idea left her completely sketched out. After eating, she needed some of her most important questions answered. She needed to know when she was being transferred and why she didn’t have anything she brought with her. However, all of that had already been taken care of on her behalf.

The doctor told her there was no secret plot against her, but that was simply unfathomable. Everything about it felt personal and as if something nefarious was going on. He left her alone to listen to the dogs barking in the distance, making it clear that she was trapped.
