Jack Antonoff takes a shot at artists creating music using AI

Jack Antonoff has recently criticized artists using AI to create music, calling them “godless wh*r*s” in an Instagram post.

The 42-year-old musician took to his Instagram on May 13 to share a post to slam AI-generated music and art as “fake” and a complete misunderstanding of the creative process. He framed making music as an ancient ritual which involves writing, recording and performing. He said:

“What we do has become and acient ritual. You don’t have to write music, you don’t have to record it and you don’t have to bring out the band and play it.”

His statement added:

“also interesting to me how it’s mainly the out of touch shouting about following this nightmare. The new artists I know are genuinely uninterested in anything that doesn’t come from within.”

Jack Antonoff has partnered with Taylor Swift, Lorde and Lana Del Rey and has been focusing on his own project, Bleachers.

Jack Antonoff has produced hits like I Wanna Get Better and Don’t Take The Money which reportedly topped alternative charts. He has worked with Taylor Swift on her albums like 1989, Reputation and Lover. He has also worked with Lorde on Melodrama and with Lana Del Rey on Norman F**king Rockwell! He’s earned multiple Grammys and over a dozen Billboard #1s as a producer and songwriter.

In an interview with Paste Magazine, he said:

“…if I had to leave something behind, it would be hope and expression and communication. If there’s a way that you want to communicate with the world, do it—because that’s so inherently hopeful. It’s why I love songwriting so much.”

Antonoff has been married to Margaret Qualley since August 2023. They share an 11-year age difference as Antonoff is 42 and Qualley is currently 31. They started dating around 2021 and were spotted several times hanging out together in public spots, such as around Tribeca and in West Hollywood.

The two went public with their relationship at the Critics’ Choice Awards in March 2022 and went Instagram official a day after. The pair got engaged in May 2022 with Qualley sharing a photo of her ring on Instagram, as she hugged Antonoff’s neck.

In a 2023 Harper’s Bazaar interview, Qualley spoke about having kids but felt she was not ready at that time as she was focusing on her career. She said:

“I just want to do everything with Jack. One day I want kids, and I’m not there yet, and I want to keep doing movies. And that’s about all I know.”

Jack Antonoff has released the single You and Forever in February, a part of the upcoming album Everyone for Ten Minutes. The music video features his wife, Qualley. The album also features a track titled dirty wedding dress that is about their 2023 wedding.
