Episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3 puts Cassie’s online fame at the center because she’s completely consumed by it. Thanks to Maddy, who did not turn a blind eye after everything Cassie did to her and helped her gain followers by making adult content.

Since the follower count keeps rising, Cassie also continues to make as much content as she can make. It includes outrageous material, from ASMR videos to themed roleplay streams which only leads to increasingly explicit requests from followers.

Maddy keeps pushing her toward whatever will attract attention and money fastest, even joking that she herself would fake bizarre content if fans wanted it badly enough. And then, Cassie reaches 50,000 followers which makes her think like she has achieved a dream.

As seen in episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3, Cassie starts appearing on podcasts and saying things that attract a male audience. She enjoys controversies and discussion about her, but deep down we know that Cassie is losing herself this way. The more validation she receives, the more exaggerated her behavior becomes.

And since it’s Euphoria, how can we not expect something dramatic? The episode turns Cassie’s situation into a surreal visual sequence where Cassie literally grows into a giant figure towering over Los Angeles. Men continue shouting demands at her while she destroys parts of the city around her.

The entire scene in episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3 feels less like empowerment and more like a nightmare version of fame where she’s become this oversized fantasy object people consume endlessly. Even Rue’s narration frames it like Cassie believes this was always her destiny to dominate, conquer and become untouchable.

Cassie and Maddy’s friendship starts falling apart again. Brandon Fontaine, the influencer Maddy introduced her to, offers Cassie a spot in his influencer house and promises her bigger fame online. Cassie feels bad because she still cares about Maddy but she’s also tempted by the glamorous life Brandon offers.

Things become even more complicated when Nate starts supporting Cassie. He badly needs money, and if he can get it from his wife, he seems to agree to do anything. This suggests how selfish Nate has become by Season 3.

Later, Cassie tries telling Maddy she wants to leave her management team, but Maddy quickly pressures her into staying. She even threatens to cancel Cassie’s audition for LA Nights, forcing Cassie to sign a contract without properly reading it. Surprisingly, Cassie does very well at the audition. Her Shakespeare performance impresses the casting team, and she gets the role.

Nate’s journey in episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3 looks almost darkly comedic, even though the violence around him is deadly. Earlier, Naz had already cut off one of Nate’s toes, and this episode becomes even more brutal.

After getting money from Cassie, Nate briefly believes he’s safe, but one of Naz’s men suddenly breaks into his house and attacks him. Nates pleads to the intruder but he doesn’t listen and violently cuts off another toe along with his ring finger while Nate screams in pain.

The scene is disturbing, but the episode also mixes in uncomfortable humor, especially when a little girl casually rides past the house during the chaos. For the first time in Euphoria Season 3, it looks Nate has nothing and he must rely on Cassie for survival.

Meanwhile, Maddy quietly becomes one of the smartest and most calculating people in the episode. Instead of reacting emotionally to Cassie betraying her again, she stays calm and manipulates the situation to keep control. She pressures Cassie into signing contracts and pushes her acting career forward on her own terms.

She’s also growing her connection with Alamo in business, as he seems to really respect Maddy’s ambition. She explains how much adult content they can make and how they can use the club dancers for more. This way, Maddy is more focused on her career instead of relationships.

Rue spends most of her time in an increasingly dangerous situation after the strip club robbery. Episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3 continues and we see Alamo becoming paranoid about betrayal inside his crew, making everyone around him nervous and unpredictable.

Rue tries staying unnoticed, but Bishop already distrusts her and treats her like bad luck. The episode also reminds viewers how ruthless these criminals can be as one of the scenes shows Bishop casually cutting up a dead body while talking to Rue and later feeds the remains to pigs.

At the same time, Rue is secretly helping the DEA wiretap Laurie’s crew. However, the time Rue spends with flirty ex Jules gives her a little emotional comfort. They talked about relationships and laughed, but there’s still tension between them as Jules is with Ellis as of now.

Things spiral in episode 5 of Euphoria Season 3 when Magick finds drugs Rue had hidden earlier, making Alamo suspicious of her loyalty. Later, Bishop and G take Rue to an abandoned area and force her to dig a grave-like hole before burying her in the ground up to her neck.

Meanwhile, Alamo calmly discusses business plans with Maddy as if nothing were wrong. The episode ends with him approaching the trapped Rue holding a polo mallet while she screams before the screen suddenly cuts to black.

So, episode 5 ends with the same idea as the HBO TV series: people turning each other into products, investments or tools for survival.
