Nick Freitas has been one of the biggest political figures in Virginia for quite some time, and as rumors arise about whether he will stay in or leave Virginia, Freitas has issued a statement to clear things up.
The former delegate built a loyal following through his social media presence and podcast, making him a household name well beyond Culpeper County. Now, between a political retirement and a heartfelt farewell speech, it looks like a major chapter is closing for Freitas and his family. Here’s everything we know.
Where is Nick Freitas moving to?
In a farewell speech Nick Freitas gave what felt like a deeply personal goodbye to his community. He started off by noting it was the last time he’d be doing something like that from that particular porch, because it wasn’t his anymore. He spoke warmly about his time in the area, calling it a wonderful place to raise his children. Most tellingly, he said that “God’s calling us to a different place,” which pretty clearly signals a physical relocation rather than just a career change.
He did not, however, mention where he is moving to, only that he is moving along with their family. He also spoke about his wife getting emotional about leaving and ended the speech on a joke about an exchange of goodbyes with his close friend.
Part of his statement read,
This is the last one of these I’m gonna do from this porch, because it’s not mine. And on behalf of me and my family, we just wanna thank Culpeper, because we absolutely loved being here. It’s a great place to raise our children, and we’re definitely gonna miss it. We know that God’s calling us to a different place, but it’s bittersweet, because this has been a wonderful place to raise a family, and we will always be very, very grateful.

It does feel like Nick Freitas’ departure is tied to his broader exit from Virginia politics. March 2025, he announced he would not be seeking re-election to his Virginia House of Delegates seat after a decade of service, with his term officially ending in January 2026.
Freitas first won his House of Delegates seat back in 2015, more than ten years back and became a prominent conservative voice in Virginia’s government. Apart from that, he also was quite known for his podcast Making the Argument, where he posts short-form videos on social media.
