Sabrina Carpenter issued a public apology after a viral moment during her headlining performance at the Coachella 2026 drew criticism online.
The Manchild songstress addressed the situation in a post on X/Twitter on Saturday, explaining she misunderstood a fan’s celebratory zaghrouta call during her Friday night set.
“my apologies i didn’t see this person with my eyes and couldn’t hear clearly. my reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. could have handled it better!”
The Nobody’s Son hitmaker then reassured fans that she now welcomes the cheers.
“now i know what a Zaghrouta is! I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out”
Based on the circulating videos online, the incident took place while Sabrina Carpenter was seated at the piano at the center stage. After receiving loud applause from the audience, she asked if anyone was yodeling.
A fan responded by explaining it was part of their culture, leading Sabrina to question what it was, followed by a joke about Burning Man.
However, regardless of her apology, many were doubtful of her sincerity.

“Sabrina handled that so classy fr,” one wrote on X.
“you clearly heard them and said ‘this is your culture?’ with that weirded-out face… if there hadn’t been backlash, you wouldn’t have even apologized,” another claimed.
“being a celebrity must be exhausting cause there’s no way people are mad at this,” an online user tweeted.
“Shut up, b**ch, you said you dont like it when she said its her culture, now you are pretending you welcome all cheers, f***ing racist,” another posted.
“i think it was extremely evident that you weren’t being malicious and were confused but nonetheless i’m glad you took accountability. we love you!” a fan expressed.
“Hate that this is overshadowing your absolutely incredible performance. this is what we should be discussing rn,” one replied.
“Oh i get now Wow, Sabrina had to apologize for not instantly knowing every global cheer on a loud stage? Peak 2026 clown world. Next we’ll cancel her for not yodeling back in Arabic. Stay sensitive, Twitter,” another person shared.
