Former NBA champion Iman Shumpert is facing renewed scrutiny after a woman accused him of forcibly removing her from his Atlanta home — allegations he denies and that police ultimately declined to pursue.
According to an incident report obtained by TMZ Sports, Atlanta police were called to Shumpert’s home at around 4:37 a.m. on Nov. 26. Officers arrived to find the former basketball star outside, moving a suitcase, and insisting he had repeatedly asked a woman — identified as Joanna Donnejour — to leave his property.
“I asked her to leave several times,” Shumpert told police, according to the incident report.
Conflicting stories from inside the bedroom
Police say Donnejour told officers that the pair were arguing in his room, allegedly after Shumpert was speaking to another woman. To complicate matters further, officers noted a third woman was also present during the dispute.
Donnejour alleged Shumpert “dragged her by her wrist and foot toward the stairs” while trying to remove her from the room. She also claimed he hit her and told officers she wanted to press charges.
A witness on the scene, however, challenged those claims. She acknowledged an argument took place but said Shumpert had already asked Donnejour twice to leave. According to the witness, Shumpert grabbed Donnejour by the wrist “to escort her out,” but “this was not done in an aggressive manner,” the police report states.
Officers reported no visible injuries on Donnejour and determined there was insufficient evidence to file charges. They stayed until she left the premises.
“There were no visible injuries, markings, or bruises,” officers noted in the report.
‘See you in court’: A threat of legal action
Body-camera footage obtained by TMZ Sports shows Donnejour telling Shumpert, “See you in court — and on Instagram in the morning,” before leaving. Though police closed the case that night, Donnejour signaled her intention to pursue the matter legally.
Shumpert released a statement disputing her allegations and claiming she had damaged personal property before refusing to leave.
“A visitor at my residence was politely asked to leave several times after I witnessed her damaging personal property,” Shumpert said in a statement.
He added that officers spoke with multiple people on-site before instructing the woman to vacate his home — a direction she allegedly ignored until escorted outside.
A spotlight on Shumpert’s personal turbulence
The incident comes at a time when Shumpert’s private life is already under public examination. His separation from singer and actress Teyana Taylor has involved its own wave of allegations and headlines, adding another layer of attention to his off-court life.
As of now, no lawsuit has been officially filed regarding the Nov. 26 incident — but Donnejour’s threat suggests this may not be the end of the story.
