Aubrey Plaza was married to husband Jeff Baena for reportedly four years. The couple tied the knot in 2021. Baena reportedly died by suicide last year.
As per the recent reports, Plaza is pregnant with her first child with partner Chris Abbott. Announcing the news, an insider told People:
“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year. They feel very blessed.”
As of now, neither Abbott nor Plaza has talked or given a statement about the same on social media.
Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena’s relationship timeline explored
Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena first reportedly met at a Balderdash game and soon started dating in 2011. The couple kept most of the details about their relationship private at that time. Two years before their marriage, Plaza opened up about their relationship and work during Child’s Plaza’s promotion, saying:
“Working with your partner can always be challenging. There’s a lot of things we do separately and I think that it’s all about balance. I think that one of the great things about our careers is that we are forced to be independent, take little breaks, go off and do our things and come back. So it’s kind of fun. Nothing is ever the same. You don’t want to spend too much time apart. But I think that there’s a way that it can work and there’s a balance in that.”
While GQ noted that the pair married in 2020, the couple hinted at their marriage the next year with Aubrey Plaza calling Baena her husband publicly on social media.
Talking about their marriage on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said:
“We got a little bored one night. We got married and I’ll tell you how: Onehourmarriage.com. That’s real, look it up.”
Talking about her husband in an interview with GQ in 2022, she said:
“I’ve been with my husband for twelve years. I relate to being in a relationship that has peaks and valleys, and going through a rough patch and comparing yourself to another couple that seems perfect.”
Last year, Jeff Baena reportedly committed suicide. While the couple never openly talked about their separation, it was revealed by the Los Angeles medical examiners that the couple had been living apart since September 2024 because of issues in their marriage.
Aubrey Plaza later expressed her feelings during a podcast with Amy Poehler:
“Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously.”
The couple was married for nearly four years.
