Overcompensating was renewed for Season 2 back in September 2025 and is now in production. When it was first released in May 2025, the show became an instant hit for Prime Video, and fans are eager to see the aftermath of Carmen accidentally outing Benny in front of his sister and crush.
While we can’t tell you when Overcompensating Season 2 will be released, we can tell you which cast members are returning for the upcoming season and who is joining the show for the upcoming season.
Overcompensating Season 2 cast: Who’s returning and who’s joining
Overcompensating Season 2 will finally show us how Benny’s sister Grace and his crush Miles react to the news of him being gay. More importantly, we will also see how Carmen accidentally outing Benny affects their friendship. It is not right to out someone without their consent, and it’s most likely going to take Benny and Carmen quite some time to become good friends again.
Most of the cast of Overcompensating Season 1 are returning. Returning series regulars for Season 2 are Benito Skinner as Benny Scanlon, Wally Baram as Carmen Neil, Mary Beth Barone as Grace Scanlon, Adam DiMarco as Peter Whitney, and Rish Shah as Miles Hari. Holmes, who played the recurring role of Hailee Matthews, has been promoted to a series regular. We can thus expect Hailee to have a bigger role in Season 2.
Returning recurring and guest stars are Connie Britton and Kyle MacLachlan as Benny’s parents, Kathryn Scanlon and John Scanlon, respectively. Lukas Gage is returning as Sammy, Andrea Martin is reprising her role as Yates Dean, Julia Shiplett is returning as Mimi, and Nell Verlaque is returning as Emily.
Danielle Perez is reprising his role as Michelle, Yasmine Sahid is returning as Courtney, Boman Martinez-Reid is returning as Paulie, Tomaso Sanelli is reprising his role as Trent, and Austin Lindsay will return as Trey.
Three new recurring cast members have joined the show for Season 2. Tom Francis, who is known for his roles in Jay Kelly, You, and the musical, Sunset Boulevard, is joining the show as Declan Bishop. Aisha Dee, whom you might know from The Bold Type and Watching You, will be joining as Naomi.
AnnaSophia Robb, who is known for her roles in Grosse Pointe Garden Society, The Act, and The Expecting, will be joining the show as Chels in Season 2. Patrick Regan, who was a co-executive producer on Overcompensating Season 1, is going to guest star as Preston in Season 2.
The show is created and co-written by Benito Skinner. Other writers of the show are Scott King, Mitra Jouhari, and Jordan Mendoza. Daniel Gray Longino and Desiree Akhavan are the directors. The show is executive produced by Scott King, Skinner, Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Charli XCX, Daniel Gray Longino, Josh Bachove, Alli Reich, and Sam French. Jordan Mendoza, Pat Regan, and Natalie Teter are the series producers.
Overcompensating Season 2 is in production. A release date is yet to be confirmed.
