Hiker dies after plunging off Angels Landing at Zion

Since at least 2004, at least a dozen people have died on Angels Landing. The combination of loose gravel, steep exposure, erratic weather, and sheer human congestion makes it arguably the most statistically dangerous maintained trail in the American national park system. Yet it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, many arriving without adequate footwear, fitness, or experience.
