Here’s who brings the Japanese drama to life

For the fans of Japanese crime shows, Netflix has released the brand new drama, Silent Truth. The story revolves around four young classmates who, after a crime is committed, hide a gun under the cherry blossom tree. The story takes viewers twenty-three years forward, where all are settled in their lives.

However, a classmate’s older brother was killed. In this case, three classmates are involved, and the fourth, being the investigator of the case, has to figure out what happened.

Silent Truth is streaming on Netflix, with a new episode releasing every week. With only one episode released as of now, the drama is already gaining attention, thanks to its brilliant cast and their performances.

Silent Truth cast and characters: Meet the main leads

1) Takeuchi Ryoma as Tobina Junichi

Junichi is one of the four friends from the group. After hiding the gun with his classmates, he has mostly stayed away while the other three remained in contact. He works as an investigator and is married to a nurse.

When Junichi came to know about the case, he seemed pretty okay. However, after finding out that Makiko, one of his classmates, is involved in the case, he is left stunned. Makiko is Junichi’s first love, whom he wanted to protect in childhood.


2) Inoue Mao as Iwamoto Makiko

Makiko is a hairdresser and the manager of a salon. While Junichi was in love with her, Makiko’s feelings in their childhood remain a mystery. She was married to Kiyohara Keisuke, and the two also have a son. However, Makiko later gets a divorce from Keisuke.

When she sees Junichi at the interrogation, she pretends not to know him at first. After coming out, she asks Junichi why she never contacted him and even jokes with him, which shows their bond still stays the same.


Supporting cast and characters of Silent Truth

Seto Koji as Kiyohara Keisuke

Keisuke is the third classmate in the group and was married to Makiko. In the present, he is divorced and has another lady in his life. In Silent Truth episode 1, he is seen hiding the keychain from Makiko while being on the phone talking to the lady.

Though he is divorced, he makes himself available for Makiko and meets their son whenever she asks. Even when their son gets caught for shoplifting and Makiko is asked for a large sum of money, Keisuke takes a brave step and goes to meet the man alone, protecting Makiko from the situation.


Watanabe Daichi as Sakuma Naoto

Naoto is the fourth friend in the group and is close to Makiko. In the Silent Truth Episode 1, he even visits Makiko’s salon to get a haircut and gets happy after hearing that Makiko’s son has been accepted into the elementary school.

However, he is not very close to his elder brother Hideyuki. Naoto is very successful in his career and also handles big decisions in the business.


Koyanagi Yu as Sakuma Hideyuki

Hideyuki is the brother of Naoto and the manager of Smile Sakuma. While Naoto is calm and collected, Hideyuki, on the other hand, takes advantage of the situation after seeing Makiko’s son shoplifting.

He not only calls Makiko to demand a large sum to keep quiet, but even after getting the money, he threatens them again, showing his greed. Hideyuki is murdered in the first episode of Silent Truth with a gun, which the four classmates buried in childhood.


Miura Kira as Iwamoto Masaki

Masaki is the son of Makiko and Keisuke, who has been accepted into elementary school. He is caught shoplifting by Hideyuki, which puts her mother in a dangerous situation. He shares a good bond with both his parents and Naoto as well.


Eguchi Noriko as Nara Rikako

Nara is Junichi’s partner who works with him in Hideyaki’s case. Nara carries an interesting personality and even senses Makiko’s lies within minutes. On the other side, she is also very curious about Junichi’s classmates and the bond they share. She is clever and has her own way of doing things that makes her personality even more attractive.
