When Chad Powers first launched on Hulu in September of 2025, there was no consensus whatsoever on the idea that a Chad Powers Season 2 would ever materialize. It was such an odd concept, a sports comedy about a college quarterback who had been kicked out of college for cheating and then put on prosthetic makeup in order to create a new identity and a new name. But as soon as people saw it, they were hooked, and when they saw the final episode of Season 1, they were totally shocked because Ricky found out who the real Chad Powers was.
The great news at the moment is that fans do not have to wait as long as they previously thought before Chad Powers’ Season 2 is released. Michael Waldron, the showrunner and producer of Chad Powers, has confirmed that the second season will be released on Hulu this coming fall. This will put Chad Powers on air in almost the exact same period as the first season and also much earlier than fans had anticipated.
The announcement of Chad Powers’ Season 2 came as part of a broader update about Waldron’s deal with the studio. Waldron renewed his overall deal with 20th Television and confirmed he will be returning for Chad Powers Season 2 to direct four of the six episodes, including both the season premiere and the finale. In his statement, he said he is proud to partner with Disney again, and slipped in the update of the upcoming season casually by reminding fans to watch out for Chad Powers Season 2 on Hulu this fall.
Chad Powers Season 2 has been in production, dating back to January of 2026, which suggests that Waldron and Powell had knowledge of the renewal long before it was announced officially back in December 2025. Then, on March 11, 2026, on all social media accounts related to Chad Powers, it became publicly known that production had concluded on Season 2 and featured a video featuring all the cast and crew who were celebrating the completion of production. That is a very fast turnaround by any standard.
What Glenn Powell had to say when filming for Chad Powers Season 2 wrapped?
In the wrap video, Glenn Powell, fully dressed in his Chad Powers prosthetics, gave a speech to the cast and crew, praising everyone for the hard work they put in. He said it was a wonderful group of people who really put their heart and soul into it, and that he could not wait to unleash Season 2 on the world. He called it really, really special and said the whole experience was a dream come true.
That is not the kind of speech you give when you are not confident in what you have made. Powell is clearly very invested in this show, both as its lead actor and as one of its co-creators. He produces Chad Powers through his production company Barnstorm Productions, and the series also has Eli Manning and Peyton Manning on board as executive producers, given that the whole concept originated from a sketch Eli Manning did for his ESPN+ show Eli’s Places.
New faces joining the cast in Chad Powers Season 2 and what to expect from the story
Chad Powers Season 2 is not just bringing back the people fans already love; it is adding some genuinely exciting new names. Colin Woodell, Gillian Jacobs, writer and comedian Carey O’Donnell, and Nate Varrone from The Bear have all been confirmed as guest stars for the upcoming season. Woodell plays Jay, a charming and wealthy Catfish alum who gets recruited as a potential booster, while Jacobs plays Jerri Dougan, the sister of Gerry, who is a character already established in Season 1.
As for where the story picks up, it starts exactly where it left off. The Season 1 finale ended with Ricky Hudson discovering that Chad Powers is actually Russ Holliday and threatening to expose him, only for Russ to hit back by pointing out that if she does, it would destroy her father Jake’s career as head coach of the South Georgia Catfish.
That standoff is the thread the whole of Season 2 will be pulling on, and with the University of Texas now apparently entering the picture, the stakes are only going to get bigger. The full returning cast includes Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Steve Zahn, and Colton Ryan, among others.
Chad Powers Season 2 is coming to Hulu this fall 2026.
