James Bond fans are speculating about the return of their famous spy in the upcoming installment of the franchise. However, they don’t know who will play Bond or the Bond girl. Back in February 2025, the Hollywood film industry was shocked to see Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli step away from the franchise and sell the copyrights to Amazon MGM.
The former lead, George Clooney, revealed his pick for the next film. Five years had passed since the final performance of Daniel Craig as 007 in No Time To Die. Last month, Amazon announced that the official search for the next actor had started, but Clooney believes that Callum Turner is a perfect fit for the next movie. Clooney praised his performance in The Boys in the Boat and said that he is a perfect guy for this role due to his tall and handsome figure.
Some people on Reddit said that Turner did some excellent work, but he has a low profile and is not as famous as Daniel Craig. They added that he did not appear in mainstream roles when compared to Henry Cavill, who played Superman in Man of Steel. Conversely, his fans argue that he is a perfect match for the next 007 lead because he is famous enough to not be intimidated by what has come before him.

George Clooney worked with Turner even before his performance as Joe Rantz in The Boys in the Boat. Clooney directed this movie, which was about the underdog story of the University of Washington’s rowing team competing in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Turner told THR,
“I’ll tell you what’s so funny about the Bond thing. Even your best friends ask you, people text you that you haven’t spoken to for 10 years — and you know nothing!”
He also said that it feels strange, like something is happening while nothing is happening at the same time. Honestly, he knows nothing and finds the whole situation amusing.
Clooney isn’t taking a big risk by selecting Callum Turner because the online betting markets had already listed him as their favorite for the role. Therefore, it is clear that fans won’t be surprised by the Clooneys’ casting choice. Still, Turner revealed that he had no conversations with Clooney about the upcoming James Bond project and refused to admit his interest in portraying the next 007.
The film will mark a new era for the franchise because MGM Studios is fully controlling the creative production team. They hired the Peaky Blinders’ talented writer Steven Knight and experienced producers like Amy Pascal, David Heyman, and Denis Villeneuve.
