28 Years Later: The Bone Temple surpasses Avatar: Fire and Ash’s box office streak
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was released in the United States on January 16, 2026. The film has now managed to overthrow Avatar: Fire and Ash at the box office after 27 days.
The horror sequel grossed around $2.1 million at the domestic box office on Thursday. It has managed to surpass the James Cameron magnum opus, which earned $1.48 million on Thursday.
Fire and Ash enjoyed the number one spot on the daily domestic chart for nearly a month. However, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is expected to earn only around $20 to $22 million during its four-day debut weekend. The film is made on a budget of $63 million. This means that it will have to improve the numbers to become profitable.
