Luke Benward, who built his run on Disney+ family adventure projects, takes Al across multiple decades. What does the Al and Lisa Robertson’s Duck Dynasty timeline look like?
The whole arc kicks off in 1984 with a teenage wedding in Louisiana, per the couple at alandlisarobertson.com. By 1989, Lisa had become emotionally involved with a man she met through her job, the first real crack in the marriage.
They tried to reconcile through the early 1990s without any professional counseling at all. Al has admitted, more than once in print, that he kept bringing the affair up during their arguments, which kept the wound wide open for years afterward.
Then it happened again, way harder this second time around. In 1999, Lisa began what Al has publicly called a full blown affair with an old boyfriend. Al has said he confirmed it through cell phone records, after which the couple separated and went into structured counseling for several months.
Vows were renewed in December 1999, which the couple now flags as the real start of a second marriage inside the same legal one. The Robertsons then told the full version of all this in their 2013 memoir A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption.
