Rachel begins to tell David about her friend, Irene, who is married and has two kids, with whom she posted a photo of a trip. In the picture, there is a little boy who looks just like Matthew. Before David could discuss this situation further, Ted, the prison guard, cut their call and took him away. David urges Rachel to show the picture to Cheryl. David urges the prison guard to give him a chance to speak to the prison guard; however, the prison guard refuses to pay any attention to his words.

I Will Find You Episode 1 continues with David meeting the warden, Philip Mackenzie. David begins to tell the Warden about the situation with Rachel. Though Philip understands David’s concerns, he notes that the DNA matched with Matthew, so there is no chance that the boy could be him. David urges Philip to ask for the murder book from his friends in the BPD.

Though Philip tells David that Matthew is dead, he listens to his plea about BPD and books a flight to Boston to get the murder book. Philip arrives at the Burroughs’ house to meet with David’s father, Lenny. Philip tells Lenny that David has asked for the murder book. Unlike Philip, Lenny does not think that David is innocent.

I Will Find You Episode 1 continues with David going through the murder book of Matthew. Right after getting the murder book, he marks Hilde Winslow, his neighbor, who had said in court that she saw David burying something in the woods. Back in Boston, Rachel visits her sister, Cheryl, but is not able to tell her about the thing she has found out about Matthew.

On the other hand, in prison, things take a turn with David as he is attacked by an inmate, Ross Sumner. The prison guard, Ted Wesson, watches David get choked by Ross but does not stop him. Eventually, David wins the fight and is taken away by Ted Wesson. It can be understood that Ted Wesson is involved in the whole situation in some way. I Will Find You Episode 1 continues with Rachel visiting David once again.

David tells Rachel to start looking for the boy whom David found that night, as it was not Matthew. Rachel notes that the DNA could easily be altered. David then tells Rachel to look into Hilde Winslow, as she lied in court. David also tells Rachel to be careful, as there might be someone dangerous out there who has planned this whole case in such a meticulous manner.

The grim atmosphere in I Will Find You Episode 1 gets even more intense when Ted Wesson takes David to the infirmary. On their way, Ted takes a knife and tries to kill David. However, David is able to evade the knife. However, as he runs to find safety, Ted tells him that he has no choice but to kill him, as he has taken money from someone. The scene cuts to the next day when Rachel gets a call from her source, who informs her about Hilde Wilnslow.

The source informs her that Hilde changed her name to Harriet Winchester in November 2021, which was just a month after her testimony, which sent David to prison. Back at the prison, David wakes up in the infirmary. Philip arrives and tells him that David should not have attacked Ted. It is revealed that Ted lied about the whole situation. David will now be taken to Ad Seg.

At the end of I Will Find You Episode 1, Philip informs David that he knows that Ted lied about the attack. He takes him to his office, where Philip’s son, Adam, waits for David. Adam tells David that he is there to break him out of prison, as if he stays, he will be killed. Adam and Philip tell him about the plan that they have to break David out. However, things take a turn as Ted understands that Philip is taking Burroughs out of prison. David pretends to take Philip as a hostage and escapes the prison.
