On Days of our Lives, Thursday, April 23, 2026, EJ and Gwen’s hopes were dashed, Leo tried to make amends with Javi, Jeremy made a big move, and Stephanie made a big mistake.
What happened on Days of our Lives

EJ was not happy to walk into the DiMera living room and find Gwen helping herself to drink after picking up the rest of her belongings. Gwen also had some bad news for EJ. Leo Stark was in the room next door. As soon as EJ heard that, he was alarmed because he knew that Leo liked to snoop and was sniffing out a story.
When Gwen heard EJ’s alarm, she knew something must have happened and asked how Lexie was doing. EJ told her that Lexie had moved her arm earlier. Theo was sure that he had been purposeful. Gwen was overcome with emotion at the thought that their experiment had worked.
EJ then revealed he worried that Chad would go sniffing around in the tunnels, since he had suspected Abigail might have been in the pod. Gwen didn’t seem as worried as EJ, but had a pointed question. Was Abigail one of the other people he wanted Dr. Rolf to resurrect? EJ refused to answer, which drove Gwen mad.
However, she was excited when Rolf called to say that Lexie’s moves were indeed purposeful, just as Theo had believed. Sadly, Rolf saw no real change in her brain activity. The longer it took for changes to occur, the less chance that they would. With that sad news, Gwen departed.
EJ was once again alone when Cat appeared. They made some small talk about the will reading and about Chad, but then EJ received a phone call telling him that someone filed a codicil to Stefano’s will with the probate court.
A full Horton house

In the Horton living room, Chad learned that he’d returned to a full house. Between him and the kids, Lani, Eli, and their kids, Jeremy, and Julie, a lot of pizza was needed. And a lot more will be needed because Julie announced that Jack and Jennifer were on their way to Salem, which didn’t please Chad at all.
At least Chad covered up how uncomfortable he was with the idea and said that he welcomed their visit. Julie hoped that Jennifer and Chad could have a fresh start. Julie also pointed out that Jennifer had believed in Jeremy, so Jeremy thanked Julie for standing by him, along with his aunt. Chad apologized for being one of the people who thought that Jeremy was guilty.
The subject then turned to Stephanie. Jeremy’s curiosity was piqued when Chad mentioned that Alex had once cost Stephanie the chance to say goodbye to Kayla when she had allegedly died a few years back. Jeremy packed it in the back of his mind for another day.
After Chad left to get some cookies and pizza, he ran into Gwen in Horton Town Square. Chad told Gwen that she was much better off not living in his family home anymore.
Leo’s quest

Leo and Cat ran into one another in the hospital. Cat noted how funny Gwen and Leo were as they went back and forth with one another in Horton Town Square earlier. However, he was really there for a check-up after his concussion. The subject turned to Chad, as Leo was sure he would be with Cat if it were up to him. But it seemed that it was up to his family.
After they made some more small talk about Chad, Leo started getting nosy and asking about Stefano’s will-reading. Leo wanted a press invite to the event. Cat didn’t think EJ would approve this. After all, it was a private family event. When Leo started asking questions about the pod, Cat received a call and made herself scarce. Then, Javi appeared and took all of Leo’s undivided attention.
The two made some awkward small talk before Javi tried to walk away. That’s when Leo got the guts to ask Javi how things were going with the new man in his life. Javi said he was fine and they were just taking things day by day. That gave Leo the guts to ask Javi if he wanted to have dinner sometime. As friends, of course.
Leo went on to babble about all the reasons they should have dinner, but Javi declined because the babbling would drive him insane. Leo argued that it hadn’t before, but Javi admitted that it did now.
Stephanie’s foolishness

Stephanie welcomed Steve and Kayla to her apartment. They brought a fresh-baked pie — and a gun. Stephanie appeared nervous when she looked at it, so Kayla tried to make her feel better. She hated holding a gun until she learned how to use it. So, Steve would teach Little Sweetness before transfering the license to her name.
Steve proceeded to give his daughter a firearm safety lesson. He also had a gun safe in the car and advised her to keep the ammunition separate. Stephanie asked what to do if someone broke in and the gun was unloaded. Steve and Kayla just stressed how imperative it was to store the gun correctly. Stephanie understood, but still felt uneasy.
Steve then suggested that he and Stephanie go to the shooting range for a lesson the next day. He had to teach Brady to shoot for his new job at Black Patch, so he would teach his daughter, as well. After Steve and Kayla left, knowing the gun was in the safe, Stephanie removed it from the safe, loaded it, and put it in her purse.
