The sophomore season is locked in for late 2026 on HBO and Max, so we’re looking at a potential November or December release window if it follows Season 1’s timeline. Filming kicked off in October and November 2025 across Hungary, Jordan, and Spain, which means there’s still some serious production work happening.

The season was renewed before the debut season even ended, as HBO Max’s original programming head, Sarah Aubrey made a statement and said,

Dune: Prophecy has captivated audiences around the globe thanks to the visionary leadership of showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, who will continue to guide this grand tale of truth and power. We’re excited to collaborate with this team again to see what they have in store.”

Dune: Prophecy Season 2 is available to stream on HBO Max.

The first season ended with Valya, Princess Ynez, and Keiran Atreides escaping to Arrakis, where it’s implied Valya will start the Sisterhood anew. Which means Season 2 is moving the action to the desert planet that’s central to the entire Dune saga.

Showrunner Alison Schapker confirmed that Season 2 will expand into the Spacing Guild and Mentat Order, two factions that Season 1 only touched on briefly . This is huge because those institutions are basically the backbone of the Dune universe. The footage HBO released shows Valya on Arrakis approaching people in gold robes at what looks like a Fremen outpost, which hints at even deeper worldbuilding.

Season 2 expands to eight episodes, two more than Season 1’s six-episode run. Dune: Part Three releases December 18, 2026, so the show could land before the movie hits theaters.

More details about Dune: Prophecy Season 2 are awaited for now.
