There was an unexpected Avengers: Doomsday leak this week, where a clip from the movie has been doing the rounds online. This scene supposedly takes place in Earth -10005 (i.e., the Earth in which the X-Men franchise takes place). However, the veracity of this clip has not been confirmed. Additionally, it is not clear which is why it is uncertain if this scene is real or not.
As for the sentinels’ participation, we already know that the X-Men are in the movie. Except for Jean Grey and Storm, almost all X-Men from the early 2000s movies have been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. Moreover, the recently released (supposed) official synopsis teases a collision between three Earths:
“Beloved heroes from three distinct universes (Earth-616, Earth-828, and Earth-10005) will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
Therefore, it isn’t surprising that the X-Men from the twenty-year-old movie franchise are in Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday leak: The latest leak from Marvel Cinematic Universe movie explained:
The leaked Avengers: Doomsday scene was pixelated (blurred), and nothing is clear except for a few things, like Thor, Captain America, Doctor Doom, and Sentinels. It begins with Doom supposedly using his magic to activate the Sentinels, i.e., the robots that hunt down the mutants in the comics. We can observe green energy emanating from Doom’s magic surrounding the Sentinels.
As the giant robots begin to rise, Thor summons the Stormbreaker, while Steve Rogers calls the Mjölnir to his hand. Other heroes are also present there, such as the X-Men, The New Avengers/Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and The Avengers led by Captain America (Sam Wilson), and also get ready to battle the Sentinels. As one of the Sentinels gets ready to activate its devastating hand canons, Cyclops takes off his visor and shoots off a powerful optic blast.
We did see the Cyclops portion in the officially released Avengers: Doomsday teaser this January. This moment seems to finally give the leader of the X-Men a moment to shine, a long-overdue correction as the early 2000s movie franchise downplayed Cyclops’ role in the team in favor of Wolverine. This was done because the visual effect for optic blasts was expensive two decades ago.
However, it is comparatively affordable nowadays, which is why we may finally get more of James Marsden’s Cyclops in Doomsday.
What do we know about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie?
Doomsday is the beginning of the end of the ongoing Multiverse Saga, which will conclude next year with Avengers: Secret Wars. It seems that last year’s Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps planted the seeds for Doomsday. Marvel confirmed that the upcoming Avengers movie will involve heroes from three different universes this April at CinemaCon. Kevin Feige told Entertainment Weekly at the Las Vegas convention:
“We’re not talking too much about story, but I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding, and Earths encounter one another, and different timelines encounter one another. And in movie speak, what that allows us to do is get different casts from different franchises.”
Our heroes from different realities have to unite to take down Victor Von Doom, a man who has his own designs for the Marvel multiverse.
Avengers: Doomsday releases in cinema halls (except for IMAX) on December 18, 2026, along with Dune: Part Three.
