Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 continues with John Hamm’s Andrew “Coop” Cooper as the key figure of the story. He is a former rich finance guy who secretly steals from wealthy people in his neighborhood to keep living an expensive lifestyle.
Following the problems and suspicion in Season 1, Coop becomes even more deeply involved in crime. He teams up with a housekeeper named Elaina to rob homes more carefully and sell stolen items for money. At the same time, he is still dealing with family issues, especially co-parenting with his ex-wife Mel.
Not only this, viewers also get to see Coop’s friend Barney getting pulled into illegal activities and other supporting characters facing issues in life. Things become even more tricky when a billionaire named Owen Ashe steps into the picture.

Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 episode 9 recap: Coop returns home after being kidnapped
Episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 begins and Coop wakes up inside a warehouse with a bag over his head. The two kidnappers remove the sack and show him video footage of himself going into Liv’s house.
These people tell him not to touch Ashe’s money and surprise him by releasing him. Coops panics and runs home rather than chase down the two kidnappers as he believes his family is in danger. He then feels relieved after seeing that Tori and Hunter are unharmed.
The episode moves forward as Coop takes the kids to Mel’s house the next morning. However, Mel is secretly trying to fix the area in the backyard where Arlo was buried.
At this point, Mel was ready to speak the truth about Arlo’s death but her family’s arrival distracted her. She also thanks Coop for helping her in making peace with Tori and also invites him inside. However, Coop is already busy with the kidnapping case, so he couldn’t come inside.
On the other side, Barney prepares for a vasectomy while Grace stays busy planning her baby shower. As for Sam, she no longer wants to stay in the home where Paul died and also wants distance from Ashe and starts searching for a new house.

Episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 continues and Coop is extremely worried about his younger sister as he couldn’t connect with Ali on the phone. Since the kidnappers managed to reach him, he fears they could target Ali next.
So, he contacts Sam for help locating Ali’s apartment because of her real-estate connections. Later, everyone prepares to enjoy Grace’s baby shower, but the event is almost ruined with awkward moments and cracks in everyone’s relationships also become more visible.
Mel’s and Sam’s past issues are brought up in front of the group, making Mel uncomfortable enough to walk away. Meanwhile, Barney, Nick, and the other men joke about Barney’s vasectomy while karaoke performances briefly lighten the mood.
The environment gets tense in episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 when Coop confronts Ashe privately and accuses him of arranging the kidnapping. However, Ash denies any involvement, but Coop remains suspicious because the kidnappers knew details about the Excelsior account.
Later, Ashe tries to reconnect with Sam but she clearly sets the boundaries. Coop and Mel sneak upstairs to enjoy a close moment but they find out only to accidentally discover Gordy and Diane secretly having an affair. The episode moves forward, and we see Mel sleeping with Miguel, unaware that Tori has overheard everything after returning home early.

Coop later meets Lu in episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 to get money from Gordy’s rare baseball card. However, she explains that the card needs authentication first because of widespread counterfeits in the market.
Desperate for cash and protection from Ashe, Coop admits that the kidnapping has left him terrified for himself and his loved ones. Since Coop didn’t have many options, he visits Jack and reveals the truth about Ashe’s illegal money.
After all this, Liv tries to explain everything and defend the arrangement but Jack is already furious after realizing she hid important information from him. As a result, Jack fires Liv and decides to return Ashe’s money even though it creates major financial problems.
Later at night in episode 9 of Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2, Coop, Barney, and Nick attend Ashe’s party. Coop initially plans to stay quiet, but tensions explode after Ashe taunts them about laundering money through Nick’s account.
Coop fires back by revealing that Ashe is losing access to the Excelsior account. The arguments get intense when Ashe directly threatens Coop and his family. And since Coop was already worried about his loved ones, he could stop him from attacking Ashe.
During the struggle, Ashe pulls out a gun but accidentally slips, hits his head on the floor and dies instantly. This means that Coop, Nick and Barney are now in a situation that can make them suspects in Ashe’s death.
