Delta MLK Day mobile event offers free health care, jobs

Delta Air Lines and Hosea Helps Inc., with UnitedHealthcare and Grady, present Health & Jobs First on Jan. 19 in Atlanta, offering free health screenings, job resources, groceries, and hot meals.

ATLANTA — In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the 100th birthday of its founder, the late Rev. Hosea Williams, Hosea Helps Inc. and Delta Air Lines, in partnership with UnitedHealthcare and Grady, will host Health & Jobs First, a mobile wellness and career empowerment event designed to strengthen the health and economic stability of Atlanta residents.

The free community event will take place Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hosea Helps Headquarters, 2545 Forrest Hills Dr. SW. Organizers expect more than 500 people to attend, with services aimed at supporting families facing health, employment, and financial challenges.

Health & Jobs First reflects a people-first approach to service, offering immediate care while creating pathways toward long-term economic opportunity. The event aligns with the legacy of Dr. King and Rev. Hosea Williams, whose work centered on justice, dignity, and access to basic human needs.

“Health & Jobs First is more than an event — it’s an investment in people,” said Landis Rush, national vice president of public sector, labor and trust at UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual. “By joining forces with Grady and Hosea Helps, we are meeting communities where they are and offering the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive. When individuals have access to quality care and real job opportunities, families and entire communities grow stronger.”

Free health care and support services

Attendees will receive free health screenings provided by Grady, including mammograms, HIV testing, cholesterol checks, blood pressure screenings, glucose screenings, and general health assessments. These services aim to remove barriers to preventive care for individuals and families who may otherwise lack access.

In addition to health care, the event will offer screenings and assistance for rent and utility support, emergency hotel stays, and enrollment or renewal for SNAP, TANF, WIC, CAPS, and Medicare. Free employment screenings and job readiness resources will also be available, helping participants take steps toward sustainable work opportunities.

“Health & Jobs First is about giving our community the tools to thrive — healthy bodies, strong careers, and brighter futures,” said Felicia Bolden Mobley, Ph.D., FACHE, director of health equity at Grady Health System. “This event reflects our commitment to advancing health equity and supporting Atlanta’s most vulnerable residents.”

Family-centered activities and essentials

The MLK Day event is designed for the entire family. Attendees will receive school supplies, family-size grocery boxes, fresh produce, bottled water, and hot meals throughout the day. The first 100 families will receive special meals from Big Daddy’s Restaurant, with hot meals available for all remaining attendees.

Children will be able to enjoy bounce houses, face painting, and games, while adults can take advantage of free haircuts and hair braiding services. All-day raffles will include prizes such as Sony PlayStations, new laptops, and $50 Visa and Walmart gift cards.

Community-powered partnerships

Health & Jobs First is supported by a broad coalition of community partners, including Delta Air Lines, UnitedHealthcare, Grady, V-103, Big Daddy’s Restaurant, Healthcare Resources Staffing, and Insights Marketing. Together, the organizations are working to eliminate barriers to health care, employment, and essential resources.

By hosting the event on MLK Day, the partners reaffirm their commitment to service, equity, and collective action — values that remain central to Atlanta’s legacy of leadership and community empowerment.
