Days of our Lives spent the week celebrating the Fourth of July with birthday cake, fireworks, secret hospital break-ins, corporate revenge, possible arsenic poisoning, and Dr. Rolf looking like his science project just filed a complaint with human resources. Holly’s illness pushed EJ into deeper panic, Titan’s rescue loan turned into a DiMera trap, Lexie’s second chance started looking tragically short, and Leo managed to make a concussion funny, which is probably not something the Salem medical board should encourage.
Holly’s Illness Pointed Back to DiMera

Holly’s mystery illness became one of the week’s biggest concerns as Sarah tried to figure out what was happening. Tate and Ari went back over the cabin trip and realized Holly was the only one drinking the tap water. That finally gave everyone something real to follow, and Brady raced to Smith Island to get a water sample from the Horton cabin.
That sequence worked because it gave the story some urgency without overcomplicating it. Kate put together that Holly may have been poisoned by the island’s water supply, Tate brought the theory to Sarah and Brady, and Brady did what needed to be done. Someone was watching him from outside the cabin while he collected the sample, which made it clear EJ’s problem was not staying buried for long.
By Thursday, George O’Halloran confirmed the water contained Coriseal and arsenic. EJ then learned the DiMera cleanup effort had poisoned Holly, and worse, if her doctors did not know they were treating arsenic poisoning, she could die. That put Johnny in a terrible position after EJ asked him to keep covering for him. Johnny clearly did not want any part of it, but by Friday, he slipped out of Trey’s first birthday party and snuck into Sarah’s office wearing gloves, which is not usually what innocent people do between cake and fireworks.
Lexie’s Return Became More Painful

Lexie’s resurrection turned sadder as the week went on. Her symptoms returned, and Dr. Rolf gave her another treatment, only to realize it was no longer working. Lexie had just gotten her life back, found Theo grown, and stepped back into Abe’s world, so of course Salem immediately started shaking the snow globe again.
Rolf’s reaction was worth noticing because he showed real emotion over Lexie’s failing health. This was not just another mad scientist moment with beakers and secret buttons. He looked genuinely upset that he could not save her. Richard Wharton has been giving Rolf more feeling lately, and it may be time for DAYS to let us see more of what is driving him, beyond the usual DiMera lab work.
Abe’s part of this story became even messier. Lexie thanked Paulina for not shutting down her return, then later shared a romantic moment with Abe after he removed his wedding ring. By Friday, Lexie sat near the Tom and Alice Horton Memorial during the holiday celebration and grew emotional while watching Abe and Theo. Nearby, Trey’s birthday party unfolded with Paulina, Johnny, Chanel, and Lani. That was painful in exactly the way this story needed to be. Abe was getting family time with Lexie while Paulina watched from the other side of the life she stepped out of.
Titan Walked Straight Into EJ’s Trap

Xander and Philip spent the week trying to figure out who paid off Titan’s loan, and somehow neither of them could immediately land on the most obvious answer. They considered Gabi, Philip, Maggie, and the less clean corners of the business before learning the loan had been sold to ARO Wealth Management. That name meant nothing to them at first, which was nice for EJ, who probably enjoyed the suspense more than anyone.
The truth came out on Thursday when EJ walked into the Titan office and revealed he was behind ARO. ARO was ORA backward, as in One Rainy Afternoon, because EJ may be dangerous, but he is also apparently committed to theme work. He had taken over Titan’s debt because Xander and Philip set up Johnny, and now he planned to destroy their company in return.
That was deliciously devious, especially because EJ did not want a merger or some tidy business settlement. He wanted payback. Xander, Philip, and Alex were left trying to figure out how to survive the impossible loan terms without dragging Maggie into it. Their best hope may be Gabi’s inheritance, but that only works if EJ does not find out. Given Salem’s track record with secrets, they may want to start practicing their surprised faces now.
Leo’s Concussion Tour Became Everybody’s Problem

Leo’s week began with Javi and Gus trying to move forward while Leo kept stumbling into their business, sometimes literally. Javi and Gus were clearly happy with each other, but Javi still showed signs of jealousy where Leo was concerned. Gus noticed, which is usually what happens when someone’s insecurity arrives with flashing lights and its own small marching band.
Then Leo slipped at the Pub after Thomas and Charlotte left slime on the floor, giving him his second concussion in three months. Sarah warned him about that, and Leo answered with a joke about getting a free lobotomy after the next one. That may be terrible medical advice, but it was still one of the week’s funniest moments.
The concussion also led to better character scenes. Xander found Leo after he saw Xander and Kristen together, then helped him back to his room. Leo later unloaded his problems on Gwen while she survived the conversation through tiny bottles of vodka that seemed to get bigger as the scene went on. Their exchange was funny, but it also gave Leo room to warn Gwen that Xander and Kristen were involved. Gwen may have wanted comfort, but Salem handed her a hangover with evidence attached.
Relationships Kept Shifting Around Salem

Kate and Roman’s marriage continued to suffer because of Kate’s choices. Roman told Marlena that he did not know how to live with what Kate did to Johnny, but he also did not know how to live without her. Kate moved into the Kiriakis mansion, which means that problem is not solved so much as relocated.
Alex, Stephanie, and Joy also stayed stuck in their own mess. Joy spent time with Alex and Kelsey, while Stephanie struggled with jealousy and frustration. Kayla confronted Joy at the Pub and accused her of using Kelsey’s situation to keep Alex close. Joy did not appreciate the visit, but Kayla was not exactly wrong to question what was happening.
Elsewhere, Shawn and Jada went on an official date while Belle and Chad also spent time together at the Bistro. Shawn and Belle both seemed pleased that the other was moving on, which was mature enough to feel suspicious in Salem. By the fireworks, Jada and Shawn headed somewhere more private, while Chad and Belle shared a romantic moment of their own. For once, Salem’s relationship chaos took a holiday and put on decent shoes.
Join us next time when Holly hopefully gets the correct diagnosis before EJ’s coverup needs its own hazmat team, Titan learns whether spelling acronyms backward counts as corporate warfare, and Dr. Rolf maybe starts a support group for exhausted mad scientists.
