Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty reveals he wants This Oscar nominee to play him in biopic

According to a recent news report by US Weekly, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty revealed that he wants this Oscar nominated actor to play him in biopic.

The 81-year-old told US Weekly during at the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame that he wants the actor who played Bob Dylan to play him in biopic. While Fogerty was unable to recall the actor’s name, he was referring to Timothy Chalamet.

“Whoever that Bob Dylan person was. That would be great,” said Dylan about his dream casting scenario.

For his part, Fogerty exclusively informed the publication that a biopic on his career—he has a decades-long solo career and cofounded Creedence Clearwater Revival, is officially in the works, though not much has been made public.

The performer hinted about the impending movie, saying, “That’s going to be a thrill. We are fully committed to this endeavor. That’s about all I have to say about it.”

Fogerty expressed his ambitions for the plot to US Weekly, but he kept quiet about when fans will be able to witness his universe on the big screen.

“My career has taken some unexpected turns,” Fogerty said. “What really happened in my life—I actually fell right into a true love story—is what I believe is most important.”

About John Fogetry and Creedence Clearwater Revival

John Fogetry, a native of California, became well-known in the 1960s after he, his late brother Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford cofounded Creedence Clearwater Revival, or CCR, in 1959. The band changed its name from Blue Velvets to Golliwogs before deciding on CCR in 1967.

Between 1968 and 1972, the group issued seven studio albums under the official moniker CCR.

Before breaking up in 1972, the group, which played at Woodstock in 1969, produced chart-topping classics like Proud Mary and Fortunate Son.

On his solo tours, John has persisted in singing the band’s songs. (At the moment, he and his Travelin’ Band are on their Legacy Tour.)

The singer of Born on the Bayou, who has been wed to Julie Lebiedzinski since 1991, stated that he wants to see more than just his music on screen.

Fogerty said during the US Weekly interview, “I’m the most thankful and appreciative man for [Julie] because the rest of my life has been a dream.”

After being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame years earlier, John received the Johnny Mercer Award, the organization’s highest accolade, on Thursday.

“I adore music! It’s meant to be about happiness. During his winning speech, John stated, “It’s supposed to be about fun.”

The “concept of taste” in music, he continued, boils down to the question, “Why do some songs suck and some songs are great?”

“It seems like the great ones just flow effortlessly,” John thought. “There are no moments wasted. I aimed to meet that really high standard. I believe that everyone in this room is aware of that.”
