On April 28, Terrence K. Williams slammed Jimmy Kimmel for his recent parody of President Trump’s wife, Melania Trump. Earlier, on April 23, the ABC host compared the First Lady to an ‘expectant widow’ at the annual gathering of journalists.
Kimmel’s parody became viral soon after White House Correspondent Dinner (WHCD) shooting that took place on April 25.
After facing backlash from President Trump and his wife, Melania, the comedian, Terrence K. Williams has now attacked Jimmy for his joke. In his X post, Terrence compared himself to Jimmy as a comedian, saying he never made such jokes about anyone, even though he had roasted First Ladies before. He went on to add that he even joked about anyone becoming a widow.
“Dear Jimmy Kimmel, listen to me very closely. I’m a comedian. I’ve made fun of Jill Biden. I’ve made fun of Michelle Obama. I’ve roasted First Ladies before. But I have never in my life joked about Jill Biden becoming a widow or Michelle Obama becoming a widow.”
Terrence further claimed that what Jimmy Kimmel said was not comedy. He said that was ‘sick.’
“I’ve never joked about Joe Biden or Barack Obama having an attempt made on their life. I’ve never laughed at the thought of their wives standing there in fear, wondering if their husbands are going to make it home alive. Because that is not comedy. That is sick.”
The comedian offered suggestions to Jimmy on how he could have made fun of Melania and Donald Trump’s marriage, or he could have even joked about politics.
“You could have joked about Melania being married to Trump. You could have joked about politics. You could have even gone after her accent like liberals usually do. But no — you chose to joke about Melania Trump becoming a widow.”
Lastly, Terrence claimed that Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t like President Trump and he just said the truth in the name of comedy.
“And let’s be honest, Jimmy: when you hate Donald Trump as much as you do, that doesn’t sound like a joke. It sounds like how you really feel. They always say there is truth in comedy.”
Melania Trump asked ABC to take action against Jimmy Kimmel
The First Lady called Kimmel’s remark hateful and violent. She wrote:
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”
She added:
“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.”
She further attacked ABC Network and dubbed Jimmy as a ‘coward’ who hides behind his company.
“A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.”
She also called for action against Jimmy Kimmel, saying it’s time for ABC to address his atrocious behaviour.
“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
Donald Trump also lambasted Jimmy Kimmel for his widow remark. He even asked Disney and ABC Network.
