Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

On Y&R today, we saw Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) giving granddaughter Claire (Hayley Erin) the latest upon Newman family drama. She informed Claire that Victor had had Jack kidnapped to get Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) to give back control of what she’d stolen from the family. A stunned, simply stunned, we tell you, Claire couldn’t believe that her “grandpa” would do that. Really, Claire? Really? What was so hard to believe? That Victor would commit such an illegal action — or that he’d plop Jack onto a luxury yacht, a place that some might consider a vacation. Claire is no stranger to committing all kinds of horrible crimes, remember? She kidnapped Nikki and hooked her up to an IV filled with vodka, knowing that Nikki was a recovering alcoholic. Claire, as we know, was stolen from the hospital at birth, leaving her parents, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and the late Cole (J. Eddie Peck), believing that their daughter had died. Claire not only grew up under her Aunt Jordan’s (Colleen Zenk) evil influence, but she learnt from it. She was inspired by it. She became just as manipulative as her aunt. Now, we’re supposed to believe that Claire thinks that people like her grandpa can’t do horrible things? Did she not read Ruthless: The Victor Newman Story by Nora Randall (AKA Leanna Love, played by Barbara Crampton). Victor can be far more devious than having someone kidnapped. Check out our weekly What if Y&R column to see why we think Victor might want to tap into Claire’s evil side. It’s there, of course. It just needs to be mined.
