Candace Owens urges JD Vance to see resignation letter of TPUSA UGA Chapter leader amid Erik Kirk drama

On April 23, Candace Owens shared a picture of Caroline Mattox’s resignation letter. Caroline Mattox is the Turning Point Chapter President for the University of Georgia. Her resignation allegedly came after the recent Erika Kirk controversy. In her letter, Caroline mentioned the UGA event, which took place on April 14. Erika Kirk was supposed to attend the event together with VP JD Vance, but the latter canceled her arrival at the last minute.

Mattox claimed that since Charlie Kirk’s death, the values and direction of TPUSA have completely changed. Caroline Mattox’s alleged resignation letter read:

“Turning Point USA was founded to promote truth, fight for conservative values, encourage independent thought, and defend free speech. However, it became abundantly clear to me following our event on April 14th that TUSA’s mission and purpose have been lost along the way. It became evident to me that the organization’s current direction no longer aligns with the principles upon which it was founded. I witnessed firsthand what I believe to be the organization’s true direction following Charlie’s passing, and I have significant concerns about its messaging and current trajectory.”

It further read:

“In light of this, I am resigning from my position as president of the Turning Point USA chapter at the University of Georgia.”

Candace Owens backed Caroline Mattox in her latest post. The political commentator claimed that Mattox owed an apology. She further hoped JD Vance would see Caroline’s letter. Candace Owens wrote:

“The resignation letter written by the University of Georgia’s Turning Point chapter President is worth reading. Though I doubt she will ever receive an apology from anyone on the executive team, we can at least share and hope @JDVance sees it. Classy and well-stated.”

Candace Owens rejected Erika Kirk’s security concerns as reason for skipping UGA event

Since Erika Kirk didn’t attend the UGA event, Candace Owens has often criticized her for being disrespectful to the Vice President by not showing up. Candace even claimed that Erika was in Georgia at the time she canceled her appearance. Besides, she repeatedly rejected Erika’s security threats as her reason for not attending the event.

On April 22, Candace Owens referred to Erika’s story as ‘pure fiction.’ Owens wrote that Erika kept a distance from the event due to lower ticket sales and a lack of interest from attendees. She wrote:

“In short, the excuse peddled by their Public Relations team was pure fiction (as we all suspected). No, the Left was NOT buying up tons of reservations, as told by Andrew Kolvet. To the contrary, the team knew weeks before that there was little interest in the event for a variety of reasons, and Erika’s safety was NEVER an issue.”

She mentioned that the questions at the UGA event were fake. Owens stressed how both the Secret Service and the UGA Chapter President are talking about TPUSA’s supposed lies.

“Beyond this, the questions at the event were entirely faked. Erika, as we reported, was already in Georgia. Now both the secret service AND the UGA chapter President is claiming that Turning Point not only lied, but rather extraordinarily blamed the public because Erika didn’t want hit the stage.”

Andrew Kolvet hosted the event as a replacement for Erika Kirk. On stage, Kolvet spoke about Erika’s absence and cited unspecified security concerns as a reason. TPUSA rep and current Charlie Kirk Show host Andrew Kolvet took care of the gathering with JD Vance.
