From Season 4 Episode 9 is going to be released on MGM+ on June 21, 2026, and will serve as the penultimate episode of the season. The episode’s title, The Calm Before, already confirms that a storm is coming in the final episode.

The logline for The Calm Before suggests that Boyd will put a plan in motion, which might work, or might go sideways. The logline states:

In episode 8, we’ve seen Boyd and Jade argue about how exactly they should retrieve the bones of the dead children from the tunnel without getting cornered by the monsters. Boyd did not want to go ahead with the plan since there was only way to go in order out of the chamber, and they might all get trapped by the monsters with no way out.
However, the Man in Yellow heard of their plan and tried to convince Tabitha that the plan is a bad idea. In Season 4 episode 9, we might see them go forward with this plan or a new one.
The episode title, The Calm Before, strongly suggests that episode 9 serves as the calm before a huge storm in the finale. The title implies that the characters may find some answers and little hope before everything falls apart in the finale.
One storyline that will most likely be continued in episode 9 is the continued involvement of Julie’s story-walking. From Season 4 has heavily focused on her connection to the town’s timeline, and her story walking abilities will most likely be used in Boyd’s plan. Julie might discover something about the town’s past that helps the residents in making an escape plan.
The Man in Yellow might also play a significant role in the penultimate episode. In Season 4, he has been built up as the closest thing the show has to a final antagonist. Thus, the Man in Yellow might just reveal his identity to everyone or have a direct confrontation with Boyd before the episode ends.
From has a history of killing important characters near the end of a season, and we might see someone die in Season 4 episode 9. While there is no evidence about who might die, speculations suggest that either Victor, or Henry, or Sara, or Ellis might die in the penultimate episode.
The episode’s logline says that the residents will

which suggests that the residents may finally learn something important about the nature of the town and be forced to choose between two paths moving forward.
