The Miami entrepreneur is dropping his debut club single and he is only getting started
Big Suave has a simple philosophy. If he can build it, he will. The Philadelphia-born entrepreneur planted roots in Miami and has spent close to a decade treating music the same way he treats every other venture. He approaches it as something worth taking seriously, building carefully, and scaling up. His debut club single Rotation drops May 15th, and he already has his sights set on what the summer could look like.
From Philly to Miami
Music was never the original plan for Big Suave. It grew out of a mindset that was already in place before the first track was ever recorded. “I’m more of an entrepreneur, but anything I can get my hands on, I’m down with it,” he said. “Music is just another product for me, another business.”
He has been in the music space for about eight or nine years, but the pace he is moving at now feels different from anything that came before. Growing up around music in Philadelphia and eventually finding his footing in Miami gave him a particular view of what the culture could hold. “Not at this level, not at this level where I’m taking it at now,” he said.
Building Rotation
His debut club record is exactly what the title suggests. Rotation was designed for the dance floor, for the kind of song that works when the temperature is up and everyone is already moving. “You put your body in rotation, that’s the concept,” Big Suave said. “However you like to vibe out, you vibe with Rotation. Put it in rotation. I just want everybody to be happy and be in rotation.”
Miami, a city built on nightlife and warm weather, felt like the right home for a record like this. “I thought it was perfect to bring something like this to Miami,” he said. “Hopefully it can be a Miami anthem. The weather is right, we all like to dance. I think it’s a perfect song, especially for the summer.”
The album is coming
Rotation is just the opening move. Big Suave has a full project on the way, and he is confident it will stand apart from what is out right now. “This album is going to be hot because it’s different,” he said. “Different sounds, different producers. It’s not that gibberish talk, it’s actually talking real bars, great beats, great concepts. I believe that they’re going to enjoy so many different things on this album.”
For a point of comparison, he pointed to one of the biggest names in the game. “I would compare it almost similar, maybe, to Drake,” he said. “Something real, something real cool and smooth.”
As for features, Big Suave is not looking outside his own circle right now. “I’m in my own lane, I’m in my own zone,” he said. “I just want to work with me.”
Beyond Rotation
Music is only part of what Big Suave is building this year. He recently locked in a brand deal with Crisppi’s Chicken and is launching his own menu item, the mango lemon pepper wings combo, tied to a new drive-thru location the chain is opening. “I’m going to be in the drive-thru with Rotation and my chicken wings, my own combo,” he said. “I’m happy about that.”
A video for Rotation is also set to drop soon. “That video is crazy,” Big Suave said. “When I say crazy, you’re going to love that when that drops.”
Rotation will be available on all platforms May 15th. Follow Big Suave on Instagram at @bigsuavemiami and visit bigsuave.com to keep up with everything on the way.
