Are Ken Carson and Hunter Schafer dating? Viral claim erupts online as rapper trends amid album drop

Atlanta rapper and record producer Ken Carson is currently trending online amid the drop of his fifth studio album, Xperiment. On Thursday, X user @yeenballin shared images of Carson, 26, and actress, model, and trans rights activist Hunter Schafer, 27, and claimed they were in a relationship.

“Ken Carson and Hunter Schafer are reportedly dating,” the caption read.

The post amassed over 15,800 views but has no verified source to authenticate the rumor. Additionally, neither Ken nor Hunter has confirmed the same.

Xperiment is set to arrive on July 3 via Opium/ Interscope Records. Ken Carson teased the release date when he dropped the trailer on Instagram on June 14.

Exploring Ken Carson’s view of the LGBTQ+ community

In a December 2018 post on X, Ken Carson wrote:

“boy barbie for the females! I am not a part of the #LGBT community. I support them 100%, but I am not Gay!”

It was seemingly a response to the rumor that he was secretly gay amid online curiosity about his fashion choices and stage persona.

In October 2023, a fan discovered a 2020 picture allegedly featuring makeup artist, singer, songwriter, and media personality Jeffree Star kissing Ken Carson on the cheek and tagged both celebrities on Instagram.

Jeffree is known for being gender fluid and has previously identified as open and pansexual.

However, the user shared their DM where Carson claimed it was not Star but rather a “whole female” and even shared her username as @ern.klly. When the fan apologized for the error, the rapper clarified:

“You gone get me in trouble… I ain’t gay. Nobody gay.”

Ken has yet to address the latest rumor.

He is busy with the Friday release of Xperiment, which has 22 tracks and features from Playboi Carti, Destroy Lonely, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, and 2hollis. Ken Carson shared a pre-save/ pre-order link last month.

It is a follow-up to the fourth studio album, More Chaos, that came out last year and soared to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Carson and his team hid physical drives of the latest album in cities like NYC, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago for fans to locate. Those who found the Atlanta drive claimed it included songs such as “drug kit” (ft. Young Thug), “ghost” (ft. Lil Uzi Vert), “possession”, and “ARP” (ft. Playboi Carti).

The rapper also used a viral USB rollout to promote his album. Additionally, he debuted some of the unreleased songs at the Rolling Loud event in Orlando, Florida, in May, and Summer Smash in Chicago, Illinois, in June. Those were captured by attendees and the press and included the tracks “cover my ears” (ft. Playboi Carti), “ARP” (ft. Playboi Carti), “Boil”, and an untitled 2hollis-produced closing track seemingly titled “shadeson.”

However, all of these are speculations.

What is, however, confirmed is that Ken Carson is ready to drop a mixtape called CARTUNEZ on July 10.

Earlier this year, the rapper wrapped up the European leg of his WTF Tour and will soon embark on the North American stops. Before headlining ComplexCon in L.A. in October, he is also scheduled to take the stage at various festivals across Europe, including Roskilde in Denmark, Openair Frauenfeld in Switzerland, and Splash! In Germany, according to Complex.

As for Hunter Schafer, she is looking at a busier second half in 2026. The individual who was assigned male at birth and later transitioned is the brand-new face of Mugler’s Angel Blush Eau de Parfum, which will come out this fall.

According to Vogue, the actor-model will also appear in the miniseries Blade Runner 2099, a Japanese horror video game, Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven, the feature film Fish opposite Tim Roth, and the psychological horror drama Palette. Schafer recently wrapped up the HBO project Euphoria. It was her debut in 2019.
