Angel Reese continues to deliver strong performances on the court even as her team struggles to find its footing.
A tough week for the Dream
The Atlanta Dream extended their losing streak to five games this week, falling to two different opponents in the span of three days. The team lost on Thursday to the Washington Mystics and followed that with another defeat on Saturday against the Golden State Valkyries. Despite the results, Reese, the former LSU star, remained one of the bright spots for Atlanta.
Reese keeps producing double-doubles
Across the two games, Reese put up a combined 30 points and 26 rebounds. She recorded a double-double in both contests, pushing her season total to 14, which includes four double-doubles in her last five outings alone. Her consistency has stood out even as the Dream have failed to secure a win.
In Saturday’s 88-83 loss to the Valkyries, Reese shot 46.2 percent from the field. She finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, adding three assists and three steals to her stat line. She fouled out late in the fourth quarter and was unable to help close out the game, which ultimately slipped away from Atlanta down the stretch.
Her season averages remain elite
Reese is averaging 14.8 points per game this season, along with 11.7 rebounds, which currently leads the entire WNBA. Her rebounding numbers have been a defining feature of her game since she entered the league, and this season has been no exception. Even with Atlanta’s recent skid, Reese’s individual production has not wavered, and she continues to rank among the most productive forwards in the league on the glass.
From LSU champion to WNBA standout
Reese built her reputation at LSU, where she helped lead the Tigers to a national championship and earned All-American honors during her collegiate career. That success translated into her being selected with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky. After two seasons in Chicago, she was traded to the Atlanta Dream, where she has continued to build on the dominant rebounding and scoring ability she showed in college.
Since arriving in Atlanta, Reese has quickly become one of the focal points of the Dream’s roster. Her ability to consistently record double-doubles has made her one of the more reliable performers in the league, even during stretches when her team has not found the same success collectively.
