
St. Louis County police are searching for Alesie Dawson, last seen this morning after the car she was left in was stolen from a residential street in Affton.
St. Louis County police issued an Amber Alert this morning for a 5-year-old girl who went missing after the vehicle she had been left in was stolen from a residential street in Affton, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol activated the alert just after 9:15 a.m. The child, identified as Alesie Dawson, has not been located.
What happened on New Hampshire Avenue
The incident was reported at approximately 7:30 to 8 a.m. today, March 30, from the 8900 block of New Hampshire Avenue. According to St. Louis County police, Dawson was left unattended in a running vehicle while her guardian went inside a nearby residence. When the guardian returned, both the child and the vehicle were gone.
The vehicle, a Jeep Renegade, was recovered a short time later at the Madaford Garden apartment complex, a few blocks from where it was taken. Dawson was not inside.
Police said they do not currently have a photograph of the child because she had only recently begun staying at the location with her guardian.
Description and what to watch for
Alesie Dawson is described as a Black girl, 2 feet 6 inches tall and approximately 60 pounds, with black hair worn in four ponytails and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt with the words Flower Power and blue shorts, along with pink and blue barrettes.
Anyone who sees a child matching this description or has any information related to her whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.

Police ask public for any lead
St. Louis County police spokesperson Vera Clay spoke at a news conference this morning, telling reporters that investigators currently have no information about who took the child or where she may be. Clay said every available resource within the department would be directed toward locating Dawson, and that any tip from the public, however small, would be treated as significant.
The Amber Alert remains active. St. Louis County Police have asked anyone with information to call 911 without delay.
