Founder and host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Alex Cooper, has finally opened up about the allegations against her husband, Matt Kaplan, with whom she is expecting a child, encouraging a toxic work culture at their media company, Unwell Network, according to People.
As per E! Online, the accusations against Cooper’s husband and business partner, Matt Kaplan, came to light in April 2026 after Bloomberg and Vanity Fair published reports of employees complaining about a toxic work environment and Kaplan’s rude behavior towards them at the company.
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal‘s Suzanne Vranica on June 24, 2026, in France, Alex Cooper addressed the allegations regarding her husband’s offensive and abusive behavior and the problematic work culture at Unwell. The 31-year-old Cooper said:
“I will say that building a startup, there is so much growth that comes with that, and I am extremely proud of what we have built at Unwell. I will just kind of leave it at ‘don’t believe everything that you read on the internet’ — but I think everyone knows that at this point”
While Alex Cooper spoke highly of Unwell, and how employees at the company are happy and comfortable working there, she said:
“I think that we have done a really incredible job at Unwell, and I think if you walk the halls, there are so many people that are so happy to work at this company.”
As Cooper continued talking about how difficult it is for a woman to work in this particular industry, she called the allegations against Matt Kaplan a “smear campaign.” Alex noted:
“I think, unfortunately, being a woman in this industry is extremely difficult because you’re held to a complete different standard. Whether it’s a smear campaign being created for someone’s narrative, whatever it be.”
Cooper further added:
“I think when you read lies about yourself to fuel something else that is an obvious situation going on, it’s hard, but I think the reason that I’ve had success in this industry is I have really thick skin, and I’m going to keep pushing forward.”
Alex Cooper sheds light on the competitive advantage of Unwell over traditional media

During a March 2026 interview with Fast Company, Alex Cooper mentioned her company’s fast-paced growth and the advantage Unwell has over traditional media houses. Cooper said:
“We always say Unwell moves at the speed of a group chat. Our competitive advantage over traditional media is that it’s never been able to have a two-way conversation. [We can], and that is something that I take pride in.”
She further added:
“You don’t need to feel like there’s a standard you need to meet. You don’t leave feeling less-than. Because there are some brands right now that are still creating unattainable expectations.”
