The Bills lineman floated a reunion online, but Diggs is a free agent tangled in a federal lawsuit.
One of Stefon Diggs’ old teammates would love to see him back in Buffalo. Whether that’s realistic is another question entirely.
Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins used Instagram this week to float a reunion with the star wide receiver, and when Diggs replied, Dawkins answered with a simple message: it’s time. The exchange set off a wave of speculation among Bills fans. But Diggs, now a 32-year-old free agent, is also in the middle of a federal lawsuit, and a judge has just ordered him to start answering tougher questions.
What Dion Dawkins said
Dawkins made his feelings plain. His social media post, and that it’s time reply, signaled he would welcome back a receiver who was one of the most productive Bills of his era. Diggs played in Buffalo from 2020 to 2023 and earned first-team All-Pro honors in his first season with the team. He remains popular with former teammates and much of the fan base. Whether the front office shares Dawkins’ enthusiasm is unknown.
Where Diggs is now
Stefon path since leaving Buffalo has been winding. The Bills traded him to the Houston Texans in 2024, and last season he played for the New England Patriots, reaching Super Bowl LX in February 2026. He was later released and is currently a free agent. At 32, he is still a recognizable name, but a year removed from his Buffalo peak.
The legal cloud: what the judge just ordered
The bigger complication is off the field. In a June 3 order, a federal judge ruled on a batch of discovery disputes in Diggs’ ongoing legal fight tied to a 2023 sexual assault accusation. The judge said Diggs’ description of his accuser as an acquaintance was not enough, and ordered him to provide a truthful, complete, and non-evasive account of how the two knew each other.
The judge also directed Stefon to more fully describe his interactions in May 2023 and to say who was present at his Rockville, Maryland, home. Diggs did score one win: he will not have to answer questions about any prior possession or distribution of controlled substances. He has 14 days to comply or risk sanctions.
The allegations, and Diggs’ denial
The case stems from the night of a May 2023 charity basketball game in Washington, D.C. Christopher Blake Griffith, a social media personality, alleges the group later went to Diggs’ home, where Diggs gave him something that turned out to be a drug, followed by unwanted sexual advances, and that Stefons’ brother later attacked him to keep him quiet. Diggs has denied all of it, calling the story a fabrication.
In fact, Diggs went on the offensive. He sued Griffith for libel in October 2025, arguing Griffith invented the account for online attention and damaged his reputation. Griffith then filed counterclaims for civil sexual battery in November 2025. The case is in pre-trial discovery, with a hearing set for July 2026, and both sides are seeking damages.
Would the Bills actually sign him?
This is where the Dawkins buzz meets reality. A teammate’s social media post is not a contract offer, and there is no indication the Bills’ front office is pursuing Diggs. Beyond his age and the time since his Buffalo prime, the unresolved litigation and other off-field questions would give any team reason for caution. For now, it’s time is one player’s wish, not a plan.
