Tickets for Detroit’s public practices become available Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Detroit Lions fans hoping to watch the team prepare for the upcoming season will get their chance to claim training camp tickets starting Tuesday morning.
When tickets become available
Beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, fans can claim free tickets to attend one of five open training camp practices scheduled for this summer. The tickets are available exclusively through the team’s official website, where fans will need to select the date they want to attend before joining an online queue to secure their spot.
How many practices are open to the public
Of the practices scheduled this summer, 5 are open to the general public while 4 additional sessions are reserved exclusively for members of the team’s Lions Loyal program. According to the team’s website, all four of those member only practices have already sold out, leaving the 5 public sessions as the only remaining opportunity for most fans to attend in person.
How to claim your tickets
Fans can claim up to 4 tickets per session once they reach the front of the online queue. All tickets are digital only and can be accessed either through the Detroit Lions mobile app or saved to a digital wallet on a smartphone, meaning physical tickets will not be issued for any of the sessions.
Where practices will take place
Every open practice will be held at the team’s Meijer Performance Center facility located in Allen Park. Unlike in past seasons, the Lions will not hold any joint practices this summer, so fans attending will only see the Lions on the field rather than a matchup against another NFL team’s roster.
Seating and weather policies to know
All tickets granted for the sessions are general admission, since the practice facility does not offer assigned seating of any kind. Fans should also be aware that if weather forces a practice indoors, the session will be closed to the public entirely, and ticket holders will not be able to attend the relocated practice.
Camp schedule and key dates
Rookies are scheduled to report to training camp on July 25, with veteran players following a few days later on July 28. The very first public viewing opportunity comes August 2 during Back Together Weekend, though that particular session is limited to season ticket holders rather than the general public.
The 5 practices open to all fans are scheduled for August 3, August 4, August 6, August 10 and August 19. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. with practice beginning at 8:30 a.m. for the first three sessions, while the August 10 practice starts later with gates opening at 9:30 a.m. The final public session on August 19 begins in the early afternoon, with gates opening at noon and practice starting at 1 p.m.
Fans planning to attend should also review the team’s prohibited items list ahead of time to avoid any issues at entry, since the facility enforces restrictions on what can be brought inside. With training camp set to begin later this month, ticket demand is expected to be strong given that all four member exclusive sessions are already fully claimed.
