Shattered goes live at 7 PM ET, but log in by 6:20 to grab two free cosmetics and a spot.
Fortnite’s season-ending live event, Shattered, goes live tonight, at 7 p.m. ET. But the time that actually matters is 6:20 p.m. ET, when the doors open. Show up at 7 sharp and you risk finding the servers full and watching the finale on someone else’s stream.
This is a one-time event with no in-game replay, so if you miss it live, you miss it. Two free cosmetics are on the line. Here is exactly when it starts where you are, how to get in, and what you earn.
What time does the Fortnite live event start
The fight kicks off at 7 p.m. ET, which is 4 p.m. PT and 11 p.m. UTC, with the playlist opening 40 minutes earlier. For overseas players that lands overnight: midnight BST, 1 a.m. CEST Saturday, and 9 a.m. AEST Saturday. The event is playable on PC, PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S and One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
How to join before the servers fill
Launch Fortnite, open the Discover menu, and select the Shattered playlist when it appears at 6:20 p.m. ET, then queue in. No extra sign-up is needed. The early window is not a courtesy. Large cinematic events draw far more concurrent players than a normal day, which causes login queues and occasional crashes. The 40-minute ramp spreads that surge out instead of slamming the servers all at 7:00. Join early and you take a slot before the wave crests. Join at 7 and you compete for the last few.
The free rewards, and the catch for solo players
Two cosmetics are up for grabs, and they are not the same deal. Every attendee gets the Chaos Cutlasses pickaxe just for showing up, while the Bark Voyager sidekick requires at least one friend in your party, and the whole party earns it. Play solo and you get the pickaxe but not the sidekick.
Both land in your locker after Chapter 7 Season 3 launches, and Epic says they may appear in the item shop later, so they are not guaranteed permanent exclusives. One accuracy note: a few outlets have listed the reward as a Dark Voyager item, but the confirmed names are the Chaos Cutlasses pickaxe and the Bark Voyager sidekick.
What makes Shattered different
This is the genuinely new part. Shattered is the first Fortnite live event to run two versions at once. The season-long Showdown rivalry between Team Foundation, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, and Team Ice King pays off in a split finale, where players who backed each side see different story beats and a different angle on the event in real time, even from the same lobby. You do not need to do anything to choose, as the allegiance you locked in during the Showdown Rivalries is read automatically.
Why it starts later than usual
If the timing feels off, there is a reason. The later slot lines up with Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 3 gameplay trailer reveal at Summer Game Fest, which Epic is rolling out right around the event. It also sits right before the season flips, so the game heads almost straight into downtime afterward.
What comes after Shattered
Servers go down for maintenance the moment Shattered ends. Chapter 7 Season 3, titled Runners and centered on the returning Sprites mechanic, launches June 6, with Dr. Slone and a pen-and-ink John Wick skin in the new Battle Pass. A new tropical area and new weapons round it out. The gap between finale and fresh season is measured in hours, not days.
