SIMIEN is coming and it’s sooner than you think

SIMIEN is three sisters, one sound, and zero shortcuts. Taédym, Jaiden, and Kamrein grew up in Los Angeles, trained at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and have spent years writing and producing music entirely on their own terms. Atlanta is home now, and something big is on the way.

What are some of your biggest musical inspirations and do they also influence your sound?

Kamrein: We definitely say Rihanna. She had a lot of influence on our style and our whole vibe.

Taédym: Aaliyah. Prince, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson. Cher. All these incredible artists that just embody art. I think we just get inspired by authenticity, be yourself type of artist. And also our parents too. Our parents influence us as well.

Why is it so important for SIMIEN to have full creative control?

Jaiden: For us it’s just important to be involved in our craft and what we do. We’re really open to receiving beats and stuff like that, but we’re just really into how we create.

Kamrein: We want it to be heard and out there. One big thing as a group is it’s important to be yourself, have the creative freedom, have the right team around you, and just to be you.

The Sugar video looks a lot like Bridgerton. Was that an influence?

Jaiden: It’s funny because we were on Pinterest just scrolling and it wasn’t like we came up to each other and said let’s do a Bridgerton type vibe. We were just like let’s do this. So it’s inspired by Game of Thrones and I guess you could say Bridgerton inspired, just in that time.

What was it like working on Sugar with Akon?

Taédym: It was so much fun. It just came so organically. He gave us a couple of beats and the first one we were like okay let’s do this and it just came together. The chorus came and then the verses came and then we all came together and were like this sounds crazy, and then Kon was like let me get on it and then it was just history from there.

Jaiden: On set was so much fun. We had all the extras, got to meet everyone, and some of our family was in the music video.

Taédym: Our sister, our niece, our brother, our mom, our dad. It was so much fun.

You recently joined Konvict Kulture. How has that been?

Jaiden: It’s so much fun. He’s like family. We got to grow a strong bond with Kon. It’s like family honestly. A lot of love, a lot of celebration, a lot of creative freedom. That’s one thing about Kon, everything is beautiful.

Taédym: It’s been a beautiful partnership with Konvict Kulture and SIMIEN. I think it’s gonna grow into something amazing and it’s gonna be the biggest thing in the world.

Jaiden: It’s been great. We’ve been through ups and downs through other background things but never with Kon. He’s always pushed us through. And even with our parents, they manage us as well. So it’s just been a big push.

You have a massive TikTok following. How do you balance fan expectations while staying true to yourselves?

Kamrein: One thing about us is we’re so real and so authentic to the point it genuinely shows. Especially in lives, we’re able to connect with people a bit more because they can see our personalities. When it comes to social media, we’re not really big social media people, if that makes sense.

Jaiden: We started off just having fun. That’s how we grew our platform. We were just having fun on TikTok and showing people that we’re artists.

Taédym: It is a contrast to go from social media to being artists because it’s such a different attention span. Instead of three minutes it’s like 15 seconds.

Kamrein: You’ll always get hate regardless of what you do. Either you’re doing great or you’re doing bad, same outcome every time. So we just keep it pushing. That’s kind of how we navigate through that.

When can fans expect new music from SIMIEN?

Taédym: We cannot wait for the Simienaties to hear it, to grab it, to feel it as much as we have been feeling it through the years. We’re super excited to just show something to you guys.

Jaiden: It’s sooner than a lot of people think.

Where can fans find and follow SIMIEN?

Taédym: You can listen to it everywhere. YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes. You can find it genuinely anywhere.
