Sam was involved with both Rosie and her husband, Adam. At the same time, the commune people were not allowed to access any tech, so knowing about Sam’s past was certainly hard. However, Isaac knew the truth about him and his activities, the reason why he was killed by Sam.

While nobody knew about it, it was Miriam’s husband, Phillips, who remembered that Sam killed Isaac. At one point, Sam even threatened Rosie’s daughter Grace after she saw him hurting Phillips, the reason why Rosie decided to escape from the place to keep her daughter protected.

While Sam was not ready to let her go and even tried to drown her, he finally let her go after hearing her voice in his head.

Rosie, after escaping from the commune with her daughter Grace, decides to stay with Miriam. Miriam had a son named Matthew with Phillips. And while he was banished from the cult, Miriam still stayed connected with him through letters. Rosie finds the address through these letters and finds her, and they decide to let her stay.

Sam took advantage of Adam in Unchosen after coming to know that he was hiding his sexuality and pretending to be a normal husband to Rosie. He even recorded him so he could use the video later, if needed, to blackmail Adam and keep himself safe.

Sam tries framing Phillips for Isaac’s death, leading Adam to take the leadership role. When Adam came to know about the truth and what Sam was up to, he even tried shooting him. However, Sam used the recording as a means to blackmail him, as he planned, which kept Adam quiet. In the end, Adam decides to leave the cult and leave Guildford.

Unchosen ending explained: Sam becomes the new leader
