The Morning Show Season 5 is in production right now, and while many characters of the show are reprising their roles for the upcoming season, a few aren’t. The Lanterns star Aaron Pierre, who joined The Morning Show in Season 4, is one of them.
Aaron Pierre’s character, Miles, stirred things up in Season 4 of the show when he had an affair with Stella Bak, revealed secrets about his wife, Celine, to Cory Ellison, then chose to stay with his wife after the affair came to light, and in the process of it all, caused significant damage to Stella’s life. But Miles isn’t returning to The Morning Show Season 5. Here’s why.
Reason behind Aaron Pierre not returning for The Morning Show Season 5
Miles was an important character in Season 4 of the show given how much damage be caused both Celine and Stella. But he isn’t somebody the writers are focusing on in The Morning Show Season 5. When Season 4 of the show ended back in November 2025, co-showrunner Charlotte Stoudt spoke to Deadline about the upcoming season of the show.
When asked if Miles would be seen in the next season, Stoudt said,
“Honestly, we’re still breaking, we’re a little bit early into the writers’ room. Anything can happen. I will say that Aaron Pierre is having a pretty great career. He’s now in a Star Wars movie, so you may have seen the last of him. He is beloved by all, though, I will say that.”
It is not yet confirmed if Miles isn’t being included in the story of The Morning Show Season 5 because his character’s purpose has been fulfilled or because of the actor, Aaron Pierre’s busy schedule. However, it seems that Pierre’s busy schedule is one of the main reasons he isn’t reprising his role for Season 5. Pierre has multiple projects lined up for release and has evidently been busy. He will be seen in Star Wars: Starfighter (2027) and in Love of Your Life (release year yet to be announced). Besides, he is also playing John Stewart / Green Lantern in Lanterns, which will be released on HBO Max in August 2026.
According to Greta Lee’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in October 2022 and Deadline’s conversation with co-showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, Greta Lee, who played Stella Bak, and Marion Cotillard, who used to play Celine Dumont, are not returning for The Morning Show Season 5.
The returning cast members for Season 5 are Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson, Nestor Carbonell as Yanko Flores, Nicole Beharie as Christine Hunter, Billy Crudup as Cory Ellison, Mark Duplass as Chip Black, Karen Pittman as Mia Jordan, Jon Hamm as Paul Marks, Boyd Holbrook as Brodie, and William Jackson Harper as Ben.
New cast members joining the show for Season 5 are Jeff Daniels as Lukas, Jesse Williams as Vernon, Renee Rapp as Samantha, and Sean Hayes as Wyatt. The Morning Show was created by Jay Carson and developed by Kerry Ehrin. Ehrin and Charlotte Stoudt are the showrunners. The show is executive-produced by Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Ehrin, Michael Ellenberg, Mimi Leder, Kristin Hahn, and Lauren Levy Neustadter. The production companies behind the show are Red Shoes Pictures, Yak Yak Pictures, Echo Films, and Hello Sunshine.
The Morning Show Season 5 is currently in production and expected to be released in 2027. The first four seasons of the show are streaming on Apple TV.
