Tyrese Maxey returned Saturday after missing ten games with a pinky injury and looked like he had never been out, finishing with 26 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds in a 118-114 win over the Charlotte Hornets. Joel Embiid played in his second game back after missing 13 games with a right oblique strain, scoring 29 points. Paul George, also in his second game back after serving a 25-game suspension, added 26 points and 13 rebounds.
With eight regular-season games remaining, the 76ers sit a half-game behind the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 6 seed in the East. Philadelphia enters today as a narrow road favorite by 2.5 points. This is the third and final matchup of the season between these two teams. Miami won the first meeting on November 23, while Philadelphia took the most recent matchup on February 26.

What is happening with the Heat right now
Miami is ninth in the East with a 39-36 record and has dropped seven of its last eight games, falling 2.5 games behind Philadelphia in the standings. The Heat gave up consecutive losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers over the weekend, and the schedule does not soften immediately. After the 76ers today, Miami hosts the Boston Celtics on April 1.
Defense has become the most pressing concern. The Heat currently allow 117.9 points per game, the worst mark among any top-ten team in either conference. For a franchise built on its defensive identity, that number represents a significant departure from what the organization expects of itself.
