Key evidence details emerged in D4vd’s murder case at an L.A. court hearing today.
Exactly one year after prosecutors say he took a young woman’s life, singer D4vd appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom today as troubling new details emerged about the evidence stacked against him. The April 23 status hearing brought fresh revelations about the scale and nature of what investigators say they found on his personal devices, painting a picture of a case that prosecutors appear increasingly confident will hold up in court.
Prosecutors revealed a massive amount of digital evidence
Investigators collected more than 40 terabytes of digital data from D4vd’s phone, computer and iCloud account using multiple search warrants and three separate investigative grand juries. The breadth of that evidence, described in court as voluminous, suggests months of meticulous investigation before prosecutors formally moved to charge the singer on April 20.

Child pornography was allegedly found on his iPhone
Among the most serious claims made today was that D4vd’s iPhone contains a significant amount of child pornography. The allegation was disclosed in open court before Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo and came alongside confirmation that additional forms of digital evidence, including police bodycam footage, DNA trace evidence and multiple sets of photographs, are also part of the case file.
A wiretap was part of the yearlong investigation
Prosecutors confirmed that a wiretap was conducted at some point last year as part of their investigation. No additional specifics about its scope or targets were provided during today’s hearing, but its existence adds another layer to what is shaping up to be an extensive evidence portfolio for the prosecution.
D4vd remained composed throughout the proceedings
The singer, born David Anthony Burke, appeared in court in an orange jail jumpsuit and shackles. He remained calm and said very little during the proceedings, briefly addressing the judge when prompted. Lead defense attorney Blair Berk was present alongside the rest of his legal team and placed a hand on the singer’s back when prosecutors raised the child pornography allegation in open court.
The preliminary hearing is locked in for May 1
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled to begin May 1 and is expected to last between four and five days. During those proceedings, prosecutors will present their evidence before a judge, who will then determine whether sufficient basis exists to proceed with the criminal charges. Prosecutors have also stated their intention to be ready for trial within 60 days of that hearing.
D4vd faces charges of first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and mutilating a body. Prosecutors allege he had an illegal sexual relationship with Celeste Rivas Hernandez beginning when she was 13 years old, then killed and dismembered her on April 23, 2025, after she threatened to come forward about the relationship and disrupt his music career.
Her remains were discovered in September inside two black bags found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer at a Hollywood tow lot. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
