Leading all predictions in the best musical race is Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), which entered the morning at a remarkable 98.85% nomination probability, making it the clear favorite before a single result was formally confirmed.
3 theater legends honored for lifetime achievement
Beyond the competitive categories, the 2026 ceremony will recognize three major figures whose careers have shaped the landscape of American theater.
André Bishop, the former longtime artistic director of Lincoln Center Theater, will receive a lifetime achievement statuette for his decades of influence over New York’s cultural identity. Jules Fisher, a Tony-winning lighting designer whose work illuminated some of Broadway’s most beloved productions, will also be honored. The third recipient is James Lapine, a Tony-winning playwright and director whose collaborations have left a lasting impression on the American musical form.
