XO, Kitty star Anna Cathcart addresses the importance of THAT major scene in Season 3 with Lara Jean Song Covey

Anna Cathcart is getting candid about one of XO, Kitty Season 3’s most crucial scenes: when Lara Jean Song Covey, Lana Condor swoops in to help Kitty navigate a massive life decision, and from what the actress is saying, that scene was way more crucial than what we thought.

After hitting a rough patch with Min Ho mid-season, Kitty spirals about her future and that’s when her older sister flies to Seoul to encourage her to submit her college application to NYU by the early decision deadline. For Cathcart, it’s an important scene that shows the Song Covey sisters’ collective struggle with balancing love and ambition.

Speaking to Deadline about it she says,

“We’ve seen now all three sisters battle and struggle with that concept of going to college with a partner, and how you want to make sure you’re making a choice for yourself…Lara Jean did a different kind of route and different storyline, and Kitty is really figuring out what hers looks like and what is best, but I also think it’s important that she talks to Lara Jean in this moment of [a] pivotal life path and trajectory-changing [choice]”.

She then adds how Lara’s inclusion in the scene is important as it gives in to a big takeaway from XO, Kitty Season 3 as she continues,

“I think it’s really important to hear from Lara Jean that love can be worth the effort and can be worth the risk. It might change, and you don’t know, but, that’s part of it. That comes with love, always. You can’t try and plan it all out, but you have to do what feels right in this moment. And you can’t stop living because these things are uncertain. That’s a really big takeaway from the season in general.”

More details about XO, Kitty Season 3

After three seasons of will-they-won’t-they tension, Kitty Song Covey and Min Ho Moon finally get their happily ever after. And honestly, it’s everything XO, Kitty fans have been waiting for. But before that, they hit quite the rocky road as a misunderstanding about Eunice’s pregnancy tears them apart mid-season, and they end up parting ways, which forces both to grow individually and figure out what actually matters.

Things are then fixed soon as Min Ho writes her an original song telling her everything he can’t explain in words. There’s an iconic rom-com moment as he literally runs through the subway to catch her, which ends with them kissing and finally confessing their love for each other.

The finale ends with Min Ho heading to Portland to meet Kitty’s family, which opens the door to new possibilities.

XO, Kitty is streaming on Netflix.
