Tiger Woods’ ex-girlfriend Kristin Smith has broken her silence on his recent DUI arrest. Smith, who is a wardrobe stylist and fashion director, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday and claimed she has nothing to do with the former pro golfer and has moved on with her life ever since their split almost a decade ago.
Smith, who briefly dated Woods in 2016, wrote:
“Regarding recent events and my past, I have moved forward and being dragged back into these moments and untrue narratives is triggering. Beyond that, after traumatic unrelated incidents over the last couple of years, I don’t handle being unexpectedly approached or confronted well, and it can be deeply unsettling for me.”
Kristin Dodson Smith, aka KDS, continued:
“Anxiety and fear of my family and me being contacted, watched, or followed, in hopes of provoking a reaction about something that has not involved me for a very long time simply does not get easier.”
She mentioned being “grateful” for her past “personal experiences” with Woods, which have “shaped” her into who she is today. Upon processing the recent controversy, she said of her ex:
“I hope people will remember that the person they have celebrated and been entertained by is, above all, a human being, and deserving of decency too, just like anyone else.”

Tiger Woods and Kristin Smith sparked dating rumors in November 2016, when she was questioned by authorities at the Palm Beach International Airport for carrying $200,000 cash in her handbag. She claimed the money belonged to her then-boyfriend, Woods.
The following March, she refused to talk about her romantic life, telling reporters:
“I’m happy in my personal life; it’s really full. But I think if I shared it, I’d be damned if I did, damned if I didn’t. I don’t want it to define me.”
The couple was reportedly captured by the Daily Mail snorkeling and boating on his private yacht in the Bahamas in July 2017. However, Tiger dismissed the reports via X and wrote the following month:
“Contrary to the false Daily Mail article, Kristin Smith and I are no longer dating and haven’t since last year.”
In an attempt to further shut down the rumors, Woods uploaded vacation pictures with his two children from Albany.
In her recent statement regarding Tiger Woods’ run-in with the law, Smith requested “dignity and privacy” as the incident plays out. She stated that for nearly a decade, she chose to stay “silent” (seemingly due to the NDA) regarding her ex’s scandals, which was not an easy decision.
“Finally, not abandoning myself feels cathartic. Moving on,” Kristin Smith concluded.
Last Friday, Woods, 50, was involved in a rollover crash after he tried to overtake a pressure cleaner truck and clipped its trailer near Jupiter Island, Florida. Officers responding at the scene reported that she tested negative on the breathalyzer, refused a urinalysis test, and showed “signs of impairment.”
His mugshot has gone viral ever since, revealing bloodshot eyes. Hours later on the same day, Tiger Woods posted bail and was released from Martin County Jail. He has had similar DUI incidents in 2009, 2017, and 2021.
The golfing legend is currently dating Vanessa Trump. He shares son Charlie Axel and daughter Sam Alexis with his ex-wife and former Swedish model, Elin Nordegren. Their marriage ended after seven years, after Tiger admitted to infidelity.
