The Young and the Restless star Nathan Owens has been in soaps long enough to know that being tied to a core family is a very good thing! Now, in light of the news that his character, Holden Novak, is the son of Malcolm Winters and Stephanie Simmons, he’s sharing how he truly feels about this shocking development.

“Anchored into one of the 4 families of Genoa City, Holden is now OFFICIALLY a member of the Winters bloodline!” Owens enthused, posting a photo of himself along with co-stars and TV family members, Christel Khalil (Lily), Shemar Moore (Malcolm), and Vivica A. Fox (Stephanie).
“Feeling pretty blessed to be working alongside this group right here,” he shares. “Talented individuals that I’ve watched on screen for a good portion of my life are now my on-screen family, wild! 🙌🏽 – Cheers to @youngandrestlesscbs for making this happen as well as the fans for tuning in.”
Cast members from Y&R are happy for Owens and are responding to his post.

Holden Novak Winters, lonely no more
Holden made the scene in Genoa City in early 2025. He came to Genoa City as a favor to his pal, Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers), so he could scope out Nate’s interest in him. Nate had discovered from Amy that he had a half-brother in Damian. Later, Damian came to town. He and Nate forged a relationship, and Damian also reconciled a bit with his mother, Amy.
Alas, Damian’s life was cut short after he was killed by Carter (Vincent Stalba) in a misguided effort to reunite Cane (Billy Flynn) with Lily, Damian’s girlfriend.
Holden was saddened by the loss of his friend. He shared an intimate relationship with Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) when the two went to Los Angeles, following Damian’s murder.
While Holden and Claire became intimate, they eventually ended their relationship. Could their dynamic change again once Claire learns that Holden is a member of the Winters clan? Claire can relate to what it’s like to find out that you belong to a prestigious family.
Holden’s joy over having a dad could turn to sorrow if Malcolm doesn’t find a donor to help cure his blood disorder. One reason that Stephanie decided to come clean with her son and let him know who his dad was was because of Malcolm’s illness. She has stated that both Malcolm and Holden can say what they want to her once Malcolm’s current crisis passes.
Lily was sad to learn that she was unable to be a match for Malcolm, but she is going to learn that she has a half-brother in Holden.
