Andy Richter Reflects on Being Body Shamed Amid Weight Loss from ‘DWTS’ Journey | Andy Richter, Dancing With the Stars | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Andy Richter has been on a weight loss journey during his time on Dancing With the Stars and he’s opening up about being body shamed in the past.

The 59-year-old comedian has been an audience favorite on the show this year and his wife Jen recently opened up about the health benefits he is experiencing.

“So proud of how much improvement he’s made through the weeks and the obvious health benefits! Working out 7 days a week four hours a day (even when he’s sick) will make someone shine from the inside out,” she wrote on Instagram.

On his podcast this week, Andy chatted about jokes that people would make about his weight back in the day.

“The first thing that comes to mind is one of my standard lines about what it was like to start in 1993 on Late Night With Conan O’Brien — that being the first thing I had ever done,” Andy said. “I had acted, but nothing that had ever gotten any attention or that was out even. I had already done the movie Cabin Boy, but it wasn’t out yet.”

“One of my standard lines is, ‘I didn’t know there were so many ways to call someone fat.’ Because it was just cherubic, rotund, all these different [words],” he added.

“They say nothing about my right-handedness, about my Caucasian [ethnicity], about my blue eyes,” he joked. “They don’t say anything about my good, strong teeth, but they have to mention that.”

Andy has previously said that he decided to be on Dancing With the Stars for the health benefits, hoping to get his body moving again.

Andy‘s wife recently shot down some rumors about him.
