Outlander Season 8 Episode 7 titled ‘Evidence of Things Not Seen’ aired on Starz on April 17. The latest episode of the final season of the network’s fantasy-romance series, based on Diana Gabaldon’s books, was one of the most emotional hours, which featured an unexpected tragedy for the Frasers.
The latest episode of Outlander Season 8 started with Fergus teaching his sons, Germain and Henri-Christain, how to print. He proudly asserts that the pen is their sword and this print shop is their legacy. At the market, some townsfolk throw a tomato at Marsali over her husband’s politically charged headlines.
Elsewhere, when Fanny is unable to find a piece of lace that her grandmother, a lacemaker in Paris, gave her, she gets upset. However, this detail becomes crucial in solving Faith’s mystery as Jamie and Claire remember a lacemaker who lived across from the apothecary in Paris.
Here is the complete recap.
Tensions run high between Lord John and William in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7
Outlander Season 8 Episode 7 saw William confronting Amaranthus about her suggestion that Ben feign his death and join the rebels. She maintains that she had no choice and assures him that they can still marry. While William seems to be understanding Amaranthus’ position, Lord John Grey accuses her of deceiving their family. Amaranthus leaves the room, saying she did the best for her son and she isn’t ashamed of her choices.
The same night, Percy arrives at Lord John’s estate and reveals Richardson is on his way to Savannah. While Percy tries to fish out more information, Grey is tight-lipped. Their conversation takes a different turn when Percy reminds John about the time they spent together at their parents’ wedding. While John is uncomfortable with this amorous memory, Percy reminds him that he loved him once and begins kissing him when William walks in on them. Naturally, Jamie’s son is shocked to learn his father’s secret and confronts him about his time with Jamie at Ardsmuir prison, calling him a ‘sodomist’. However, John Grey snaps back, calling him ‘ungrateful’ for all the sacrifices he and Jamie made to protect him. As William negates his relationship with John, he takes his leave from the house.
An unexpected tragedy in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7
Fergus and Marsali continue to receive anonymous (and poetic) threatening letters in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7 but the printer deems them harmless and jokingly suggests adding them to their collection. The same night, one of the couple’s daughters wakes them up shouting ‘Smoke’. Fergus and Marsali are shocked to see their print shop on fire. While the latter rushes out with her daughters, Fergus makes his way to the roof to rescue Germain and Henri-Christain. The boys are thankfully safe but their return passage has turned into ashes.
As the fire roars in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7, townsfolk and Brianna-Roger arrive to help. Left with no choice, Fergus ties a rope to Germain’s waist and has Henri-Christain climb his brother’s shoulder and lowers them from the roof. However, Henri-Christian slips away and is about to fall to the ground when Roger catches and rescues him. Once both boys are safe with Marsali, Fergus is about to come down when the roof collapses and he perishes in the fire.
Marsali is consumed with grief over her husband’s death in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7. Brianna suggests accepting Percy’s offer, as Germain is the heir to St. Comte Germain’s estate. As Marsali ponders over her options, she decides to take her husband to the Ridge to bury him with his family.
Claire and Jamie learn the complete truth about Faith in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7
Ian managed to track down the writer who interviewed Jane before her death in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7. As Jamie receives Jane’s last letter for her sister, the couple learns the truth about Faith. Jane reveals that a strange little man (Master Raymond) from the apothecary left a child with their grandmother and asked her to take her to Lady Broch Tuarach. While the woman took the baby to the wine merchant’s house, the couple had already left and she decided to keep the baby as her own. Years later, the woman learned that the Lady had returned to the mountains of North Carolina. When the family was on their way to meet the Lady, their ship was taken by pirates, killing Faith and her husband.
As Claire and Jamie realize their daughter was coming home to them in Outlander Season 8 Episode 7, a flashback reveals that Jane wished her sister to find the Lady. The couple reveals the complete truth about Faith being their daughter to Fanny, who is overwhelmed.
In the final moments of Outlander Season 8 Episode 7, Marsali, the kids, Roger and Brianna return to the Ridge with the tragic news of Fergus’ passing. As Claire and Jamie console Marsali and the kids, Fanny accepts the couple as her grandparents and honours Fergus with a pile of stones (as Jamie had done in the previous episode for Jane).
