Lindsay Lohan’s ex-stepmom, Kate Lohan, was arrested on alleged assault charges following what is reported to be an altercation with her husband, Michael Lohan. Kate Lohan was reportedly arrested in Texas on Wednesday and was subsequently arraigned in court on April 16, 2026, as per TMZ.
Kate Lohan, born Kathryn Ann Major, is from Chicago, Illinois. She was born in 1982 and was known in her career for being an entertainment reporter for platforms such as Star Magazine. Before leaving her journalism career, Kate Lohan was linked with Jon Gosselin, as reported by People Magazine.
In 2010, Kate Lohan got engaged to Michael Lohan, and the two subsequently got married in 2014. The estranged couple had an age difference of 23 years, with Kate being 27 and Michael being 50 at the time.
However, the troubles began immediately, with Michael Lohan being charged with domestic violence in 2011, as per People Magazine. Things, however, appeared to be on the mend, and the two married in 2014.
In 2015, the two separated, and in 2018, Kate filed for divorce from Michael Lohan. Kate and Michael share custody of their two children, Landon and Logan. In 2020, Michael was arrested for assaulting Kate in Southampton, New York. In 2025, Michael was once again arrested on suspicion of domestic violence but was released later in October 2025.
Kate Lohan’s bail was set at $35,000
Kate Lohan, as mentioned above, was arrested in Texas in the Harris County area and subsequently arraigned in court. TMZ obtained a copy of the court footage and published it on the matter. The court footage includes the prosecutor’s asking for a $550,000 bond, and pointing out that Kate Lohan allegedly threw a serrated knife in the direction of Michael Lohan, and hit him in the face:
“Your honor, in this 1703 case, we filed a motion of requesting a bond in the amount of $550,000 pretrial release. The defendant struck the complainant’s face and threw a serrated knife in the complainant’s direction, striking the complainant.”
The prosecutors also pointed out that Lohan has an aggravated case from 2024 and that they have asked that Kate have no contact with the defendant. The prosecutors asked for Lohan’s GPS monitoring.
Lohan’s attorney, in turn, pointed out that Lohan was not a flight risk and that she had spent five years in the Greater Harris County area and that she owned the residence where she resided in the county. The attorney then went on to state that she suffers from multiple health issues due to domestic violence, including issues related to her back, feet, and hearing loss in her left ear. It was also revealed that she was awaiting a test for skin cancer.
Because of her health issues, her attorney claimed that any prolonged time in prison would lead to deterioration of her health. Furthermore, her attorney pointed out that she was unemployed and had no place to live, with her needing to be put in a hotel or a local shelter with a bed due to the same.
Ultimately, Lohan’s bond was set at $35,000, with release conditions including no contact with Michael, random alcohol testing, and no drugs or weapons, including firearms.
