The ‘Burbs has been renewed for Season 2. The comedy and mystery series, created by Celeste Hughey, featured Keke Palmer, Jack Whitehall, and Julia Duffy in the main leads.
The first season of the Peacock series, released in February this year, consisted of eight episodes. It earned six stars on IMDb and 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. The synopsis of Season 1 read:
“A young couple relocates to the husband’s childhood home, but their new suburban life quickly unravels when a mysterious man moves in across the street. With the help of a ragtag crew of quirky neighbors, they uncover dark secrets and deadly threats.”
After its release on the platform, The ‘Burbs recorded the biggest first-day viewership for a Peacock original. Because of its popularity, the show kept ranking in Nielsen’s U.S. Originals Top 10 for four weeks straight. Additionally, it racked up reportedly more than 1.7 billion minutes of viewing on the platform, which ultimately led to the Season 2 renewal.

The ‘Burbs Season 2 renewal confirmed after positive response

Speaking of The ‘Burbs Season 2, Lisa Katz, NBC and Peacock Scripted Content President, said in a reported statement:
“We’re so thrilled that audiences loved season one of The ‘Burbs, and are going to get to spend more time in Hinkley Hills with Keke and the rest of this incredible cast. A huge congratulations to all of the writers, producers and crew who updated the beloved original film and made something funny, warm and highly contemporary.”
Viewers have to wait for a while to get more information on Season 2, including the confirmed cast and the storyline. Season 2 will most likely have around eight episodes, just like the first season.
While the production team hasn’t shared a release date for Season 2 yet, it will most likely come out next year. The ‘Burbs’s first season took around a year and a half to go from getting a green light to its release, which means Season 2 might also take around the same time. Keeping that in mind, the upcoming season could arrive sometime next year, and if there are any delays, it might come out the following year.
Speaking of the reasons behind joining season 1, Keke Palmer said during an interview with TV Insider:
“When I looked at the pilot and met with the team, I thought, OK, this is a great opportunity to talk about some heavy topics, but to use the horror genre and comedy, almost in a similar sense [to shows] I used to love back in the day, with the old sitcoms of Norman Lear, where they wouldn’t shy away from some weird stuff or some heavy things, but they found a way to make it able to be metabolized by the public, and really just kind of get it out there and start the conversation.”
The executive producers of the first season included Natalie Berkus, Aimee Carlson, Brian Grazer, Erica Huggins, Celeste Hughey, Seth MacFarlane, Bonnie Munoz, Keke Palmer, Rachel Shukert, Kristen Zolner, and Nzingha Stewart.
Interested viewers can keep an eye on Peacock to stay updated with more details about Season 2. As of now, the singer and main lead, Palmer, has not released any statement on the upcoming season.
