HBO Max’s latest comedy series, Rooster, is gearing up for its season finale.
The show will be back for a second season. Rooster Episode 7, All the Dogs Name is all set to release next Sunday, on April 19, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
Steve Carell plays Greg Russo, an author who takes up a writer-in-residence program to save his daughter’s job at Ludlow College. Katie, an arts history professor at Ludlow, has a complex relationship with her husband, who cheats on her with a graduate student, Sunny. When Katie learns that Sunny is pregnant, she mistakenly burns down Archie’s college residence, and the board suspends her.
However, Katie still feels strongly for Archie and vice versa. Meanwhile, Greg spends a wild night with his student Tommy and his friends at a frat-themed party. He spends the rest of the night with Walt’s assistant, Kristle, who has been flirting with him since he joined Ludlow. Elizabeth, Greg’s ex-wife and Katie’s mother, visits Ludlow for a college honoree program.
Greg initially becomes awkward, but in the end, the family reunites for a heartfelt chat about their lives. In the last episode, Greg helps Tommy by letting him stay in his residence. Meanwhile, Kristle and Greg go on a date, and when they reach Kristle’s home to spend the rest of the night together, Greg finds Tommy near the fridge. Turns out, Kristle is Tommy’s single parent. Elsewhere, Sunny lies to Archie about her internship, and Katie decides to cut Archie from her life after she watches Archie and Sunny together.
Rooster Episode 7 release date and streaming details
Rooster Episode 7 will release next Sunday, on April 19, 2026, on HBO at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT. The episode will also be available to stream on HBO Max in the US. In other regions, the episode will be available on HBO Max and its alternatives.
Rooster Episode 6: A quick recap
In Rooster Episode 6, Greg learns that Tommy’s roommates have kicked him out because he couldn’t pay his rent. Greg and Tommy’s relationship is not just that of a professor and student; they are more like friends. It’s safe to say that Tommy was Greg’s first friend at Ludlow. Thus, when Tommy finds himself in a difficult position, Greg tries to help him.
He lets Tommy stay in his college-appointed residence. Elsewhere, Kristle wants to go on a date with Greg. When Greg invites her for dinner, she happily agrees. However, as Greg gets ready to leave his house, he finds he is out of toothpaste, and his phone is out of charge. He is late for the date. On the way to the date, he encounters the cop he met during his first day at Ludlow. Eventually, Kristle goes on a date with Greg, and they spend their time together at her house. Greg finds Tommy near the fridge. Turns out, Kristle is Tommy’s single parent.
Sunny lies to Archie about her job offer. Walt tells her that a Biotech company is interested in hiring her, but she hides it from Archie. Archie comforts her and motivates her. When Dylan and Katie see Archie and Sunny together kissing, Katie makes up her mind. When Archie approaches her, she avoids him. Greg encourages Dylan to become the Dean. Katie finds out that the entire For Katie fiasco was run by her student Zoey. She confronts her at the pizza shop quite rudely. The next day, Zoey turns exceptionally quiet in class. Katie apologizes for her behaviour, and Zoey explains to her that she did this to gain her attention. Zoey tells Katie that she finds her relatable.

“As Greg, Kristle, and Tommy attempt a return to normalcy, Archie meets Sunny’s father, and Walt makes Dylan an unsatisfactory new offer.
In the upcoming episodes, things are about to get awkward between Greg, Kristle, and Tommy since Tommy finds out that the two are seeing each other. Meanwhile, Archie will meet Sunny’s father, who seems to be quite strict. In the preview, Dylan expresses that she would like to be in a position of power at Ludlow since not many women currently hold such ranks in the college.
